BEAST MODE....hmmm?
The first stud Raider RB was actually a DB from Praire View named Clem Daneils. My Niners drafted him but...traded him. So he ends up in Oakland and a position switch. He would become the first Raider 1000yd rusher. As we can see, he was a stud.
The first BEAST MODE was his running mate....Hewritt Dixon....a thumper also out of a small black school...Florida A&M (Bob Hayes)
The great Clem Daneils

Art Powell was out of nearby San Jose State, a great receiver.
Lamonica to Wells....9.4 sprinter out of another small black school Texas Southern.

By talking about the legends that made the Raiders what they are is ruining things, what????????
Dude, OBVIOUSLY we all get the current situation so why not add some depth....ok? You act like you're afraid to learn anything.
Current situation...
What a shit time to be making the move, the Raiders are FINALLY back in the hunt and now this, that sucks.
Remember Raider Bo Roberson:hat

You know how the Raiders have always been known for the speed? Well Bo Roberson was the roots to the tree, he was an Olympic long jumper in 1960 and a 9.5 sprinter while at Cornell.

Like the direction McKenzie went in the draft, but main criticism is that he didn't prioritize MLB high enough.
Still, went CB, S, DT, OT, LB, S, OT, RB, DT. The need to prioritize defense was obvious, and he didn't overthink it
most excited to see how Obi Melifanwu is used. 6'4, 225 pound safety who played some corner. we've sucked against TE's in recent years, so at the very least he'll be a matchup guy

25 mil a year for Carr???
yeah, it was expected. luck signed his extension a year ago. you account for the growing cap and that's basically the market right now. given his age, carr is one of the top assets in the league right now
mack will get a monster extension next offseason. how they manage the roster with 2 guys making that much money is going to be something to keep an eye out for.

spurraider21
06-22-2017, 12:41 PM
it's a lot of money, obviously, but this is par for the course for QB contracts. if you're a good frachise QB, you find the most recent megadeal and adjust for inflation. heck, compared to lucks deal, its a smaller percentage of the cap (by annual average)
carr's average (25 mil) is just under 15% of the current cap. lucks was a bit over 15. flacco's big deal back in 2013 was 16%

Really think the Raiders should've waited another season to give him that money, but I agree he's definitely the best young asset in the league.

Well, I'm getting on the Raiders train. I'm a Marshawn Lynch fan. Still pissed off about the throw at the 1 yard line. I went for Seattle because I liked their defense (I'm a defense first guy), and I also liked Wilson and loved Marshawn, but yeah, Wilson I liked his first two years in the league, but after that it seems like he's turned into a real douchebag. Wilson lost me somewhere between the Superbowl and the NFC Championship game. He was absolutely terrible in that NFC Championship game and pretty much cost them the game if it wasn't for Marshawn's miracle 4th quarter performance that saved the game and got them into the Superbowl. After the game Wilson said something along the lines of God made it like that so they could be tested (I can't remember what he said exactly), but anyway, I thought, what a tool, you almost lost that game with an abysmal performance and Marshawn saved your ass. Then after the Superbowl I was just disgusted with him. Couldn't he have changed the play on the goal line to run the ball instead of passing it? Can't the Quarterback do that?

Pretty much everyone here outside of Avante knows that Wilson is little more than a game manager that got put in the perfect situation. And there was no way in hell he was changing that play. He couldn't wait to make that throw then stand in front of the cameras and talk about how Lawd Jeezus helped him win another title.

He still would have won MVP, since that would have been Lynch's only TD.

Mack will get paid by Oakland, but there may be other casualties... Amari Cooper down the road? Also, they're heavily weighted the money on the offensive side of the ball, and I mean heavy.

Here's what I think about the 2017 Raiders. They start out like gangbusters, like 10-2 or something before collapsing a bit down the stretch. That New England game in Mexico will likely determine first place in the conference.

They'll play two great downs, and give up a first down on third and 15.

Amerson looks to have regressed for the second straight year. His guaranteed $ is already fully paid off. He'll be an easy cut candidate unless he agrees to a paycut. Conley should be able to replace him.
Sean Smith looked good in week 1 but I'm not sold he's "back." We need to draft corner in the first round again in 2018. Karl Joseph is a monster SS though. It's a shame Obi got hurt, really wanted to see him in action in the secondary. Should be back in week 9 or whenever he's eligible.
Our schedule is fuckin brutal this year. Everything is peaches after crushing the Jets, but this could easily wind up a 9-7 season. Chiefs and Broncos look incredible

KC scares me endlessly. They just seem to own the Raiders.

Should be able to crush the redskins, beat denver twice or split on them at worst, beat Ravens/Chargers at home, spit on KC, beat AFC East fodder on the road, beat the Pats in Mexico, beat the Giants, and lose 1-2 to the NFC East.

Dude, talk me into just why the Raiders should beat the Pats in Mexico City, would love to see this.
And....they stand a better chance of going 0-2 that 2-0 vs Denver, and are losing in KC.
Were 1-3 vs KC/Den in 2016.

If they stay healthy there's no good reason for the Raiders not to have the best offense in the league. Elite WR duo, pro bowl caliber qb, elite run blocking offensive line, and good rotation of running backs.
The question with them is how good the defense will play. They've looked improved thus far, though the titans and jets aren't great tests. Mack is still a monster, and Karl Joseph suddenly looks like the second best defensive player we have. Reggie Nelson looks better than last year. I think pagano is helping out a ton. The biggest wildcard is if Gareon Conley will actually be a contributor at CB. He was pretty impressive in his debut but it came against the fuckin jets. Washington should be a better test this Sunday night.

1-2. They crushed Denver the first time around. The last one doesn't count because no Carr.
I think Raiders vs Pats in Mexico (hopefully no earthquake, RIP to the people who died there today) will determine 1st place in the AFC this year.

Redskins on the road should be a close one. Skins have one of the better passing offenses in the league with a great vertical thrower in Cousins. But I think it winds up one of those vintage Carr road wins like they had a handful of times early last year (@ NO, @ BAL, @ TB) where he wins it near the end with his arm and smarts.
Also, they're not only one of the best run blocking OLines in the league... they're the #1 best PASS protecting OLine in the NFL, if you go by last year's sack and sack per dropback statistics. So even if you know 100% they're going to pass, you're not going to get much pressure unless you blitz, and if you blitz Carr will find the open man. That's why Carr is currently the 4th best QB in the league IMO.
