Remember back in 15' when Duncan was arguably the Spurs best player in that series (Clippers)?

Remember back in 15' when Splitter couldn't stay on the court?

Remember back in 15' when Parker looked like he played 20 seasons??

Remember back in 15' when Kawhi was shook by Matt Barnes and "Wasn't ready to lead a team" after winning FMVP in 14'

The Spurs needed LMA during the 15' offseason because they were starting to lack a true dominant scorer. Parker was obviously in decline and Kawhi wasn't ready...

They needed to as well move on from Splitter contract so getting LMA was AWESOME at the time and the Spurs not the Warriors were supposed to be a super team..

But something happened...

Kawhi became an MVP caliber player overnight and was sooooooo good and efficient you HAD make the offense go through him even though his playmaking skills were lacking.. The only person that's benefited from that style of play is Kawhi.

The beautiful game was a necessity because the Spurs relied on older players and "role players"... it's no longer needed when a superstar is born over night...

If the Spurs knew back in 15' that Kawhi was taking that leap in the offseason I know for a fact they don't waste their assets on a player like LMA with his skill set..

But they did...and its sucked what's followed...but now it's time to move on

You have some good points there... except in 2016.. Kawhi was already dominant and second in MVP voting that season and still just 24 years old.
Spurs went and got Pau GAsol... (sure they tried KD, but after that failed, going for GAsol was just a sentimental reaction to Timmy retiring.. not what was better for the team).. apparently.

iirc Parker hasn't looked like he could play 20 years since 2013. 13-14 was the beginning of the fall off, then 2015-current has been the "please retire" phase.

Everyone knew Kawhi was the number 1 option in 15. The idea behind signing Aldridge was basically, "There's no one other big FAs, and you don't turn turn down a possible 2nd option for Kawhi. Worry about fit later."

He doesn't fit though. Same for Pau.

PATFO stinks.

I know..that's my point. He dropped a career high 36pts in Game 1 and played like we've never seen before..people were calling ISO ball/fools gold LAST year and local radio guy was even saying Kawhi 36pts was nice but that's not Spurs winning basketball etc

The only player that's improved since 15' is Kawhi...
