Assists don't mean everything. I can dish a great pass to a wide open teammate at the 3 point line 10 times and if he misses all of them I don't get any assist. Would that be my fault? Hell I can pass it to him under the rim and maybe he gets fouled and misses. I don't get the assist but I made a great play. Everything doesn't show up on the stat sheet. Teammates have to make their shots.

Only low level fans think individual assists = getting teammates involved. Teams with offenses predicated on ball movement often have high total assists but not high individual assists.
