This reminds me a bit of what happened early in Spurs history when their best guard, James Silas, was injured late in the season.

The Spurs moved their skinny forward, George Gervin, to guard to replace Silas. It was unheard of at the time -- a 6'7" guard.

The rest is history.

Murray. Though with what Simmons showed, he can be DG's backup and Manu can start.

Leonard is going to be a Point Forward. Gasol and Aldridge better be ready as release guys because they're going to double Kawhi.

I'd start Murray and hope he could buy the team nine minutes a half and run Patty for the rest of the time. If DeJounte can't do that, then I'd run with Manu as the de-facto PG with Simmons in the defensively.

Robz4000
05-03-2017, 11:29 PM
Starting Simmons could also be an option tbh. Playing in front of his home town in a playoff game may get the best out of him; would also be huge defensively as he can guard Harden, Beverly, or Ariza competently.

Why not start Mills and buy his rest between quarters so he can get more quality rest? Having him sit the first 9 minutes of the half to then play him 15 straight minutes doesn't make much sense, tbh.

Any players who were FAs on March 1 that can be brought in for emergency PG minutes?

That wouldn't surprise me even a little bit, TBH.

You're right they are going to swamp Kawhi. Tonight, the Spurs' role players stepped up. If they do that again, the Spurs could actually get HCA back. If they don't, at least we didn't see the last Spurs home game tonight.

Then its PG by committee. Think Pop goes w/ Manu - Simmons - Kawhi big guard lineup.

But if Pop continues to go small (which worked great tonight), Murray may get a small role because Green, Manu, Kawhi, Simmons will have to fill 3 wing slots.

Makes sense. Whatever Pop does, if the injury is serious he's going to have to stick with guys. Better to housebreak Dijon in right now. Mills could play majority of the minutes and still not start you know.

I am kinda agree with it, and give TP's minutes to Simmons + increased minutes for Mills & Green, we just might survive this round. Of course that's the end of the road this season, but very much understandable & acceptable considering all circumstances.

I don't think his health is an issue. You don't hold a player out 4-5 weeks then bring him back early. Especially when he isn't needed right away.

Ginobili.
Manu has played some playoff PG for us before.
Patty plays his usual role + a few extra minutes
Murray gets a few minutes as well but is on a short leash.

Simmons steps into Manu's backup guard role.

Yea ... I don't want to disrespect Manu, but I wouldn't put more minutes on his body than he's already giving off the bench and he's pretty much hit or miss this postseason, and more miss than hit. The more you put on him, the more chances he will not play well tbh...
Again no disrespect. I could be wrong and be shat on by manu and have no problem with that, but I don't see him starting at all...

It might be Mills... or I could see one of Simmons or Murray and it might be Simmons with Kawhi being the man in the starting lineup anyways.

Patty. If he expects a decent contract after the season, this is the time to step up and show what he's got at PG. Murray still has too many rookie deficiencies to run the team. Second Guard is Manu, third is Kyle Anderson/Simmons.

Playing Manu with Murray will be useful for him as Manu seems like the best pressure valve for him to have.
