That is one thing wrong with today's society. A prime example would be how the Simpsons satirize this issue. In American society all the dumb, stupid, people who don't really accomplish anything are the most famous and looked at. 50 Cent, Paris Hilton, Wacko actors, people who don't really do anything except get shot, expose there body, or just show how retarded they are. Everybody wants to be like them, now if you look at some of the people making life easier on us, nobody knows who they are, sadly I don't know who they are. People in laboratories trying to find the cure for cancer, making new discoveries to make our life easier but, they don't even get any recognition for it. We're to busy giving awards for 'Who got shot the most time', 'Who has the biggest car', 'Who has the biggest breasts'. Why can't we do that for the people who really do something in the world?

I agree with you on some parts, but I doubt anyone in the science field is in it for the fame or recognition from Joe Sixpack. Pop culture has been around in many forms for many ages. The people that would rather have someone do the thinking and money spending for them, will let that happen. That's why there's such a big audience for retarded celebs. Some people either live vicariously through them or they would rather laugh at them.

EDIT: Oh and I have to say Eriq LaSalle is the best.

Yeah, I agree if I wanted to study cancer cells I wouldn't want to be an attention whore, I'd do it cause I was interested in the subject; not do it for fame, but can't we just give a thank you once in a while? :lol

I think it has more to do with how much money they get played for doing that stupid shit.

That's where the real appeal comes from.
