View Full Version : Warriors: Has any team benefitted more from injuries while having great health?

Was just thinking about this last night with Hill being out again...

2015: No Durant in the playoffs, Splitter hobbled so best team to play them gets bounced in round 1, No Beverley for HOU, no Love/Irving in Finals
2016: CP3/Griffin go down in round 1 so they play the cupcake Blazers, Duncan injures knee midseason effectively ending his good play and dooming the Spurs, Curry is injured against shitty Houston in 1st round but since Griffin/Paul go out they don't even need him against Portland
2017: Nurkic turns Blazers from garbage team to playoff team but gets hurt before playoffs giving GS easiest 1st round opponent, Gobert hurts his knee in Game 1 vs LA and Griffin hurts his big toe ending his season, ensuring whoever GS plays will be hobbled. Hill injured vs. Warriors. Then, if Spurs make it past Rockets, they will once again play a team with a main opponent out for the series.

I know injuries are apart of the game and everyone plays through them, and I know Bogut went down in the Finals a couple times (but lets face it, this dude is constantly injured anyway) but seriously, has any team had the stars align for them like GS in a 3 year period? They were gifted a title in 2015, should have won last year if not for Draymond getting suspended, and are once again watching other teams players drop like flies ensuring another easy path to the Finals. What kind of black magic is this tbh?

Besides Irving, Love and Durant in 2015, none of those other injuries are potential game changers and are not changing the outcome of a series against GS.

It's not like they were close series, Blazers and Jazz got swept. Do you honestly think a healthy Nurkic and Gobert change anything?

Also, in last season's playoffs Curry missed 4 games with a fucked up knee, Bogut went down in the Finals and Iguadola wasn't 100% either. So quit spreading bullshit myths like GS hasn't had their share of injuries too. Quit crying like a bitch and take your L in the WCF like a man, faggot.

Yeah I agree. Other than Irving/Love going down in 2015, none of these injuries really matter. Durant's injury in 2015 was relatively important but the Warriors showed they were the better team last year anyway. It was a tough series though, so I think you can make the argument that the Warriors did benefit a little from luck in 2015 but not this season. Blake not being injured probably means the Clippers move on instead of Utah but does anybody really think the choking Clippers would've even lasted more than 5 games against Golden State who has owned them head to head anyway?

Nurkic and Gobert are just :lol

Its not about those teams being able to beat the warriors but at least test them. It doesn't benefit a team to play teams missing key players? Lol ok

Spurs get an *** for 2003, 2007, and 2014 if we're using the "opposing team had injuries" excuse

Why do people still act like Draymond's suspension cost the Warriors a title? He missed one game. The Warriors choked three straight games.

The Cavs won because LeGOAT stepped up and the Warriors choked. Plain and simple.

what's your point?

Yeah, having to bang against Nurkic would have made things a little tougher. Nobody's arguing that. It's just that OP is acting like these are significant injuries that have proved historically advantageous whereas Nurkic-level players are out with injuries every postseason and nobody bats an eye.

Tests add up. Ironically, the thing about playing somebody else's best pushes a team to the max, increasing minutes and workload for the main players, which leads to higher probabilities of injury.

teams playing against the warriors also have a high probability of being injured with all those nut shots and moving screens.

A lot of teams have won championships at least in part because of injuries on other teams. It happens. The Warriors got some breaks in 2015 but to be fair the Cavaliers were the healthier team in last season's Finals.

Spurs were favored plenty by injuries and shitty officiating :lol
