If the Rockets are going to play Anderson at the 5 for significant time, and they will considering how badly they abused the spurs with him at the 5.

The Spurs need to Give Leonard the ball, Simmons should be on the Court and Murray might need to play more. In general, the spurs need to play more small..

In those time, When the spurs werent busy force feeding Aldridge so he can take a 16 foot fadeaway Jump shot over Lou williams, the lane was wide open. Like Super open.

Expect plenty of Drives to the basket.

He's right though. They don't have bigs to defend the paint. And a LMA led offense right now is fadeaways on guards. :lol

Sure but we dont really have the players to compete like that

Murray is a toothpick rookie, simmons is barely an nba rotational player. Manu is a bag of bones, green cant dribble and anderson is like a sloth out there.

In contrast the rockets have players that could all easily start on most teams, gordon, lue, little aftrican, ariza, anderson

Not necessarily...

That's a "Vanilla" take and not worth making a thread...

Playing small is exactly what Houston wants you to do tbh...except they actually have the guards who can dribble drive and make things happen...the Spurs don't. And if you think for a second that Murray and Simmons are going to save the Spurs from this series you're fucking crazy :lmao

If Rockets go small Spurs must abuse them and make them pay with (Kawhi, LMA, Pau). Spurs will be better prepared for when double teams come and what to do etc.

Yeah pretty much what I said

Its like gathering a bunch of YMCA scrubs one day and telling them "hey guys we gonna go small on the rockets" and expect to win

Guard Ariza with Pau (least mobile, and if leaving anyone open to hedge to paint should be him) and Anderson with Aldridge (better pick and roll big)? With Leonard, you then round out with Green/Simmons/Mills/Manu. Lee or Dedmon should just see spot minutes. Issue with playing two bigs is that you'd have to give Lee too many minutes as Pop isn't touching Dedmon.

They will need to play less the 2 bigs.. they just can't hang, they can't get back in transition as quickly and they can't guard both perimeter and paint. You must pick your poison. So I think they will both be better prepared, but I also expect Pop to mix it up. The time to throw experimental stuff is not game 6 in the road, but probably needs to be the next game. Not full on experimental, but have a quick short hook on the 2 big lineup, be willing to make in game adjustments Pop.

I just pray Pop is willing to play small ball more often but it feels like he's obsessed with having two bigs on the court for a large part of the game.

After game one he argued with the press that two bigs is how we won the season series 3-1 this year. Don't expect that knuckleheaded, stubborn SOB to figure it out.

So Pop had no problem playing Michael Finley as a small ball 4, but wont play Kawhi at the 4? lmao

when they're playing andersen at the 5 and LMA is in the game, he needs to work IN THE PAINT like he did for stretches in game 4. but on a more sustained basis.

:lmaoexpect him to? nah, he hasn't earned that. but is that what we need to happen to punish that lineup? of course.

Nope. The Rockets have Zero Rim Protection in that lineup...Surrond the perimter with Attackers. Even Green looks like a decent attacker against that Anderson at 5 lineup.

What would generate more efficient shots? The latter....Aldridge can play the the dirty basket role and grab offensive rebound. In the words of the great bean..."Just go grab the rebound"

That's not the paint. Green is out there for three pointers...You're going up against Gordon, lou and Harden...Heck I'd prefer a forbes drive over Aldridge Post ups.

That's how bad the aldridge post up.

It generates nagtive results.

It should be a good matchup for Simmons... he has earned extra playing time.
We shall see.
