With Hornets guard Speedy Claxton sidelined with a bruised toe, rookie guard Chris Paul looked to firmly establish himself as the starter in Thursday's preseason game against the Nuggets. Paul set the tempo for the game by hitting the first shot and not getting intimidated by Nuggets players en route to six points, seven assists, and three steals. In the first quarter, he drove the lane and Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin came from behind for the block. According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, after Martin told him to don't bring it in here again, Paul yelled back, "Yes I am.''

There is a reason why many fantasy experts consider Paul to be the top rookie and one of the top-30 guards this season. He doesn't back down and after his collegiate success, has put in the work to make sure he gets the same result at the NBA level. We expect him to earn the starting job and contribute enough to justify a spot in fantasy lineups.
