View Full Version : Spurs can wilt or collective perform to create their own "1980 Miracle" moment...

The opportunity is in front of them... they must "grab it and take it by the horns..."
Would be awesome if Duncan showed up in a No. 2 Jersey... more awesome if he were allowed to play (would be the greatest comeback moment ever).

I just want to see Curry knocked out of the playoffs too.

Is Duncan even roster eligible...?

in a vacuum maybe they could do it, but the Spurs got probably the best officiated game they are going to get in game 1, and it was atrocious.

Durant's egregious double dribble (missed call)
Zaza's 3 illegal screens which led to 9 Curry points (all missed calls)
Ginobili getting pummeled on his layup attempt (no call) followed up by a ticky-tack foul on Shaun Livingston on the other end.
Simmons getting tripped on a drive --> turnover (no call)
Aldridge getting double teamed and hacked --> led to 2 turnovers (no calls)
I would hardly call that "best officiated" - those plays all occurred during GSW's run in the third.

Not my point, what I'm saying is, it's only going to get worse

I actually think Zaza will get called for more fouls today. As always it will be about points. Much more concerned with SA scoring than them getting calls.

I agree that Zaza's gonna be in foul trouble till at least game 5 (if it goes that far), that was the entire point of pop's rant. However green and mcgee were both called for shit they normally get away with.

Don't forget the Green basket interference call where Leonard had an easy put back on that was disallowed.

Neither of those guys will be able to guard LMA though. And McGee will likely be in foul trouble.

I don't know what I would have done had the team lost by two points or less.

it was a pretty sub-par officiated game. pretty bad - lots of no-calls against the Spurs. it wasn't an orgy but definitely not well officiated

It's called the "Miracle on Ice", not the "1980 Miracle"! :lol

Zaza is worse than Bogat in laying those illegal screens. They are more obvious. Not sure how they missed them.
Said this in the pop went off thread. Pops rant hopefully gets zazza special attention by the refs. It can only benifit the spurs.
My guess is that Sunday was the best bet for an upset. GSW have not given an inch to teams before that game and I do think they are going to come with a hammer tonight. If Spurs can keep it under 12 points, it'll be a victory. I'm no GSW fan, but they are too good to coast two games in a row against the Spurs.
If there is one thing this year should have taught everybody, it's that you shouldn't overreact over one or two games.
We got blown out in Game 1 against Houston and won the series. Chicago won the first two games convincingly and lost to Boston. Boston was up 2-0 on Washington and got pushed to late in Game 7.
If Warriors win tonight, all they will have done is protect their home court, just as they are expected to do. Still would have 2 chances to steal a game.

It just doesn't work like that. Warriors are too talented, and when the Spurs took their chance they injured Kawhi.
Kawhi won't come back the same if he comes back.

Not happening. Adversity too great. Nothing to be ashamed about.

Just keep fighting guys, win or lose, the Spurs are playing with house money now.
I wish we had a Charles Oakley type player to take out Durant or Curry. I know it sounds sinister but I'm all for an eye for an eye.
