Trumps a fucking idiot. His egotistical self centered ignorant speeches drive me nuts even more than his outrageously stupid twitter posts.

I didn't vote for him. You can check my posts in October and November.

I despise Hillary too so for the first time in my voting career I left the President slot blank.

That being said, for the Supreme Court only I'm glad he got elected. Hopefully Ginsburg goes quail hunting this fall and codes out too.

Go ahead and impeach him. Drive him from Office.

You get Pence. He's a dick too but at least it will continue to slow the socialist tidal wave sweeping the country.

You young guys that work and support your families (or hope to in the future) need to wake up and realize that the Democrat drift to the socialist left is gonna kill your opportunity.

I know a lot of you think I'm a dick for sharing having a decent living but there really is an American dream...work hard, do the right things, take risks, and you too can have nice shit if the government doesn't get in the way too much.

We already have half the country living off the production of the other half. Not to sound like John Galt but there IS a breaking point.

While I'm on my soap box, fucking live your life while you are young. You have to work to pay for it but make it worthwhile. I have no regrets in that regard. Learn to surf. Join a softball or basketball team if you are already out of school and didn't play sports. Learn to snow ski double diamonds. Snowmobile through Yellowstone in the winter. Catch a big ass trout at the coast. Climb a mountain. Learn to really ride a horse. Learn to shoot a gun. Accurate rifles kick ass. Go tuna fishing in Venice, Louisiana. Catch a Marlin in Cabo. Zip line across Lake Travis. The potential list is endless. Live your life.

What is the biggest mistake you made when you started your business?

Did you take out a loan to start your business? If so, how much?

Good post btw

Hard to say the perfect business. Everybody wants to be in computer/software/apps business and it's hard to say Bezos or Zuckenberg fucked up LOL. Unfortunately we can't all be them. Personally I've made a decent living doing service shit other people can't or won't do and my employees are the same way. We take pride in fixing stuff and it becomes a culture at the business if you live it. Personally for a guy starting out it could be as simple as a laundry and dry cleaners. I know some millionaires in the business and there is a lot of turnover...you can buy out a loser absentee owner/wanna be cheap and start in the business with all the equipment there.

Biggest mistake? Having a partner. Never ever have a 50/50 partner. Cost me millions in the long run.

Originally did a convoluted extended 7 figure buyout with the partner from the previous owners and eventually did a high 6 figure loan to buy out the partner with the bank. It's tough. SBA was a joke.

I gotta say...

I like reading and listening to older people who go for it.
DMC is somewhat the same. For some reason I can't dislike this type. Even though I find some traits absolutely puzzling.

What I don't get is why people my age don't get the fck outside and do stuff. Wander around in the woods, kayak, ski, go out and see stuff. Go to other countries even if it's not apart of your job and it sets you back $. I'm taking the advice. I'm not stopping.

The best people to meet are the outdoor types/traveling types who will try stuff. I purposely run, swim, bike just to stay in shape for when a chance arises to do what you mentioned above. And more. Camping. Fckn camping in the middle of nowhere, Yellowstone lake. Go way out via sea kayak, reserve an old site with a bear pole. Sleep and poop outside. Your body will adjust after a few days. You will stink of fire smoke, be sore here and there. Sleep the deepest you ever have, and come back totally satisfied unable to sleep in a regular bed. F'N awesome. Living in the frkn moment. I'm going again this summer. Skiing in Colorado in the Winter. Kayak at the coast on the weekends. F the $... it's for events, not things. Jewlrey, cars, big house... F that.

Dude, don't limit yourself to Yellowstone proper. If you want some amazing camping in the area go up to the Beartooths 15 miles outside the northeast entrance to the park. Shit like Lower Aero Lake and out to the Sky Top Lakes. If you get lucky with the snowfall level there is a route up Granite Peak (highpoint of Montana) that's nontechnical if you go in the late summer and have a little luck with the weather. Though it's really dangerous if you get unlucky and this one shaded area is icy. There is also supposed to be a great 30 mile one way trail, I can't remember the name, I think maybe The Beaten Path. But you won't have to deal with Yellowstone crowds.

Or hit up Yosemite-Ansel Adams Wilderness if you haven't done any backpacking there. One thing I absolutely love about Yosemite is there is no assigned backcountry camping. You just stay where the fuck you want as long as you're not within a couple of miles of a road and not within a couple hundred feet of water. No hanging your food, you just bring a bear canister that's also a nice chair when you're cooking or eating. You don't schedule shit so if you're feeling lazy one day or really want to bust ass and cover some miles, or maybe just want to spend the whole day exploring one area you can do it. Who wants a schedule when on vacation? I agree on backcountry sleeping, nothing like when it's 25 degrees outside and you have sleeping bag unzipped to let some of that cool in. Just stay away from Half Dome, overrated as fuck and the crowds suck. Plus Yosemite has about the calmest weather you'll find above 10,000 feet (the Beartooths definitely don't though). Just make sure to properly acclimatize if you're doing a trip with some real elevation.

One thing I do have to caution about Yosemite. STAY THE FUCK OUT OF YOSEMITE VALLEY if you're going there any time from Memorial Day to late August. Last time I was there in the summer it was bumper to bumper traffic like on the 405 in LA, I kid you not. Any time from September to before Memorial Day the valley is amazing, but it's tourist hell in the dead of summer.

Sequoia on the other hand is a ghost town compared to Yosemite. I have only done a little hiking there (did a trip up to Jennie Lake), but fuck it's great. And the Giant Forest is something every American should drive through once. I have never seen anything like it, even in the sequoia groves in Yosemite.

If you ever want to do Yosemite again in the summer you should focus on the Tioga Pass Road area for dayhikes or even backpacks. The Tuolumne Meadows campground is a really cool place if you want to do frontcountry camping. Most of the best dayhikes in the park are concentrated within a 30-45 minute drive of that campground (and lots of them you can just start from the campground). Just don't go before August. July is mosquito hell, June is flooded, and May will be snowcovered if the road is even open.

Yosemite hotels are grossly overpriced, so I would definitely consider camping there. The Ahwahnee was $500 a night ten years ago (no idea what it costs now :lol) and is an absolute dump. But the camping is great outside the valley in the peak season, or in the valley in non-peak season.

Yellowstone was desolate the times we went out. We went to the South and Southeast arms. Nothing but us. Got snowed, sleeted, freezing rain on in June. No staff even out. Now when we moved closer and wandered trails, people. Also the weather in Yellostone is absolutely unpredictable. But I'm willing to do any of the above with big water. We also look for the wind blown sites with a beach for relief from skeeters.
The bear poles were a pain but we got used to it. I found this desolate lake with huge Brook Trout and my god we ate. Table top to assemble the next item to look for. Found some good little chairs REI will try them out.Got a resei sleeping bag -20 rated... I was so Frggn hot in my under wear. The deal is I gotta have a big lake or big water nearby. Also been to various places in Canada with the Bay of Fundy being the best. Had to go with a guide as the tides and weather are very dangerous via kayak.

Im taking those places in Montana down, and will check them out with the crew. We wanted to go to Montana. I wanna listen to new bear videos before we go out (required in Yellowstone backcountry and Canada where we went) Love to watch one of my friends freak out and then go anyway.

I can't imagine using a -20 bag. I use a 20 bag and bring a fleece and some long underwear if I think I'll get cold. Yellowstone in June man? That's still the dead of winter. When I was out in the area people were telling me there are two seasons in Yellowstone: winter and August. :lol

I'm not sure the Beartooths would be worth if for you then if kayaking is the main thing you're looking for. Lower Aero Lake is about a 9 mile hike from the closest trailhead.

For the Yellowstone area I would definitely bring bear spray to wear with quick access given how many attacks there have been there in the last 7 years or so. I'll probably take a .44 next time I go camping out there too.

Went on a two week horseback hunting trip in British Columbia. Slept on spongy tundra in grizzly bear country in an old school packers tent. Caught Dolly Varden Trouts with a alder pole, string and bear dick as bait. Don't be skeered and live your fucking life.

The Yellowstone area has gotten really bad since about 2009 or so though. There was something like 30 years between fatal bear attacks until 2009 or 2010, and now it seems like there is one every year or two. Supposedly these beetles are decimating the whitebark pines whose nuts constitute most of the bears' diets. I guess it's kind of stupid to be too worried about a bear attack given how rare it is even now, but I'll still gladly pay the $50 for a can of bear spray and then donate it to a ranger on the way home.

The bear attacks are so rare, no bother. I would probably spray myself in the face with the pepper spray in the middle of the night anyway and become a spicy person-in-a-tent taco.

Fishing. I have beat sharks and dolphin away from my stringer with just my rod tip So I got that down.

Dolly Varden. Never caught those. I know there were Grayling in one of the lakes we were on but never caught any. Caught absolutely enormous cutthroat and lake trout. We ate the lake trout, no keeping the cutthroat. The Brook trout where 16 Frggn inches!! I had only caught like 5-10 inch brookies.

Bear spray is pretty foolproof to use. It creates a big fucking cloud so you can't miss. Just don't shower or wear deodorant and the bears will know there's a human in the tent and stay away anyways. :lol

I have run across black bears a couple of times. Strangely never in Yosemite though, even though it's the park I have camped in most. I saw a momma and her cubs hiking in Sequoia but they just ran off. Then I saw a big black bear at the Chisos Basin campground in Big Bend when I went to the bathroom there to go wash my face and brush my teeth in the morning. That one was definitely pretty habituated to humans since it just strolled off leisurely when it saw me. Probably one of the downsides of not allowing hunting in National Parks.

Last time I went out to Yosemite I flew out to LA and took the Greyhound up to Merced (from there you can catch the YARTS bus to Yosemite). After the trip I took the YARTS bus back to Merced and had a Taliban beard and was dirty as fuck, carrying a giant pack on my back. I think the people at the In N Out I grabbed dinner at must have thought I was homeless. In fact as I was waiting for the bus back to LA some dude came and insisted I take a dinner from him. A couple of guys I was with got so tired and were so dirty they just laid down one afternoon. But it was really close to a trail but they did not know or care. When I came back upon them, some hikers had found them and were getting ready to poke them with sticks like they were dead. It was dying laughing.

And this is exactly why everyone must do this. That picture will never ever leave my head. I got that card to pull anytime I need a really good internal smile. We looked so F'N ragged it was great when we got to a mirror. I looked so strange to myself. Bizzare.

I also didn't vote. I said as much prior to the election. I didn't ever think Donald Trump wanted to be President, not seriously. I have a thread about it somewhere. Now he's there, he's not serious, but he's beginning to understand that he's no longer in a place where money can buy him out of it. He's digging a hole and fuck him if he's buried in it.

I cannot believe in a country with 300 million people, half of them legal, that we cannot find two better candidates to square off in the presidential election than the wife of a former president who spent a year testifying to congress about her private email server when she was secretary of state and a reality TV guy who said on tape "I grab them by the pussy", and won.

I'm atheist but I don't spend all day in atheist debate rooms chasing christians down because I don't give a fuck and I get just as annoyed at atheists as I do zealot religious idiots, both are idiots if they are zealous about it.

I've hunted and fished all over the country and in different parts of the world as well. I don't remember it being any more fun than taking my 5 year old grandson out at the local lake to catch sunfish or bowhunting a hill country deer. Different? Sure, and crazy and tiring. I do think topwater tuna around floating rigs is the best fishing there is, but I'm biased. I never cared for small bait sized trout on fly, but I'm not a purist. I'll use a med-heavy blank to pull a 4lb bass out of cover with 60lb braid before I use 4lb test to catch bonefish on the flats or tiny rainbow trout in a stream I can straddle in the middle of Montana. I won't turn down the opportunities for either though.

If I am not outside on the weekends its because it's too hot or thunderstorms or I am at an event. Sometimes I think watching a movie alone when you can be immersed in the movie without distractions is as good as traipsing through the woods with a backpack hoping to shoot a 160lb deer so you can spend hours dressing out an animal that doesn't taste that great to begin with. I think the cabin time at the end of the hunt where friends tell lies about their days and share video of things they didn't shoot, that's as big as the hunt. I am not a gear person when it comes to hunting, but I am when it comes to fishing. I hunt simple, I fish with NASA rated shit.

If someone put a gun to my head and said peg or dock, I'd probably refer them to one of the two in the thread who seem interested in it.

No I'm not dying.

Most of the income of the country has gone to people vastly richer than you are, who control vastly more than you do. 400 families. This is easily proven.

The 1/2 that you think are "living off the production" pay all sorts of taxes other than income. Many work 2 or 3 jobs.

vttbhl_kDoo

Giving the 400 families that control the wealth more money isn't going to help the economy.

It is simply a mathematical certainty that this trend will continue, and it isn't "socialism" that is doing it, it is simple free market capitalism and self-reinforcing cycles that are concentrating the wealth.

I am glad you are doing well, and hope you continue to do so. But even your wealth amounts to crumbs falling off the table when you stack it up against that 400 family oligarchy.

We have the least amount of socialism in the Western world, yet the poor in this country are almost certainly going to die just as poor as they were born. If the free market really worked the way you think it does in this country, that would not be the case.

I can't convince you of this truth here in this post, but encourage you to do a bit of reading. Forget the polemics and look to things that have as much data, and good data as you can find.

What kind of catfish? Channel? Must be. I have found them in their gut. The channels from the lake are a bit fatty compared to the river IMO.

And you are right on about the hatch. We saw it on the Llano just last weekend. We caught the biggest group of River bass I have ever seen. Largemouth and Guadalupe hybrids (beautiful fish that fight much harder than largemouth)

We are out before sundown though.

Kayak in the bays mostly.

On the camping trips we kayak all the gear to places we usually don't see anyone else and take advantage of the remoteness. In Yellowstone its way back in the no prop zones after the ice has broken (Probably why the fishing so good; remoteness as well) up in June. I have a friend who researches it all (permits/sites) and we go for it. We have done different parts of Yellowstone 3 times and Shashonee (sp? Only once) One guy lives in Colorado and built a kayak trailer and we keep all our Ocean kayaks there and drive up. We keep all our sit on top kayaks down here. The Colorado guys come down here for bay fishing. I occasionally go to the rigs in the Gulf but it's tough. And gotta watch the weather real close. Just bought a peddle drive so I may be out in the gulf more often. Lots of good eating fish hanging around the rig pilings. Took a dive boat and just snorkled them. Big snapper, really big mangroves which are delicious. We got to get a method for catching. The Kings, jacks and sharks are fun but not eating any of that and don't wanna have to drag a ling back in to the beach.

You sure like to talk about yourself.

Also it should be a nonstarter to think that the situation for those coming into their majority nowadays is anything like what it was for you 40 years ago but that of course doesn't stop you.

College costs have only more than quadrupled relative to inflation and then of course there are the population dynamics where the outgoing are not only massive in quantity but also in career lifespan as opposed to what was going on in the 1960s and 70s.

And spare me the line about one half paying the other half as if you and your ilk are the one's being bilked. The Reagan generation was and remains big on voting in a free ride. That is you. And outside of Obama there has been deregulating regimes in Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Bush the lesser. That is what has gotten us into this fiscal shit hole. The regulatory regime of your parents that was dismantled was the environment that allowed you to succeed.
