Might not be so serious after all. This is good news for next year if so. Still waiting on MRI results though

and by good news maybe he opts out or he's not just a warm body taking a roster spot, although we could've waived him...

Thanks for sharing. I am glad it's not going to be career ending and that he won't be deadweight if he comes back next season.
I don't expect him back for game 4 though.

Sneaky you.
Oh got in news that Kawhi is likely out for game 4.

Yeah exactly. Wouldn't be bad if he opted in. He had his moments this year which is all you could ask for at his salary and age. We need a healthy balance of experienced vets with our youth. He's a good guy and locker room presence. Don't mind him back tbh

He may not need surgery though, which would be good. But it'll be a lot of patience and in a brace.

It took him a long time to get back in good playing shape the season b4 last.. not good.

Partially torn isn't awful news (may not even need surgery). He probably opts in and is a useful rotation piece next year for a cheap price.

He was easily the best player we signed

Hopefully if his injury isn't extensive he'll come back for the veteran's minimum next year.

David Lee was huge surprise for me. Always need energy, hustle players. For the right price
of course.

While Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said on Sunday that Lee had “a bruise or something like that” it now seems much more serious.

so another possible surgery and 4-6 month recovery for a (current) spur. terrible timing for lee, really. hard to get signed as an FA with that going on.

He had a nice season, tbh..would take him back as a 5th big/RS minute-filler, but might be risky, since Pop wouldn't be able to resist getting him on the court..

The whole thing about it is that it was a non contact injury like Tony, In the words of a one Lloyd Christmas, "Our Birds heads are falling off!"

Basically we got corpses falling apart out chea

Ramona Shelburne: David Lee doesn’t need surgery, per his agent Mark Bartelstein. He’s got a sprained patellar tendon that should heal in about six weeks.

Backed your fake Defensive Player of the Queer boy Donkey Green down and jammed him like 4 times within a half a quarter.
CIA Pooped keeps getting rid of the character players and massively overspending on his pets.

I think his agent is in damage control downplaying the injury. At least it's a sign Lee wants to continue playing the last time he got injured it took him months to rehab and spent a season not quite looking like himself.

I agree. Any patellar tendon injury is scary, especially at his age. We don't know exactly how severe it is and although not needing surgery is a good indication, the list of NBA players suffering from patellar tendon injuries is a grim read.

He's lucky it wasn't completely ruptured, it's the absolute worst knee injury for an athlete.

They are just mispronouncing patella which is the knee cap. :lol

What exactly is the patellar tendon?

It's the tendon that connects the tibia and the patella, it's a sort of a continuation of the quad tendon.

I don't know about that, could be, you never know. Pop said he did not expect the injury to require surgery. This was before Game4 when a reporter asked and he quickly replied with a "No".

They didn't spell anything wrong. I was hoping that DMC was joking, and I'm still going to give him credit for that being a joke.

"Patella" is the kneecap. "Patellar" means relating to the kneecap - just like "stellar" means relating to the stars.

The patellar tendon is technically an extension of the quadriceps. So it connects the quadriceps to the tibia (shinbone), but with the kneecap sort of embedded in the middle. So Lee's injury is very close to the place that Tony was injured. The thing is, those injuries are a LOT more common in older players. The quadriceps tendon and the patellar tendon are designed to take a lot of abuse, because of what they have to do. When a guy goes down from that injury, and there's no obvious knee-to-knee or long-term tendonitis, it often means that there is at least some light tearing.
