I work in a majority Muslim/Hindu area and actually love it. The Ahmeds and Chatterjees were actually nice and easy to work with. On Friday, as many as 10 gunman opened fire on a bus filled with Coptic Christians in Cairo, Egypt, traveling to a monastery. According to Egyptian officials, at least 26 of the Christians have been confirmed dead, children among them, and at least 25 others have been injured.

One witness said there were up to 10 masked, armed, military-dressed men carrying out the attack, charging onto the bus and firing indiscriminately.

It is suspected that the murderers were radical Islamists targeting the Christians for their faith, a common occurrence in Egypt. Plus, the attack comes just hours before the Islamic holiday of Ramadan officially kicks off.

"No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, but Egypt’s Coptic Christians have become the preferred target of the Islamic State in the region. Egypt's Copts, the Middle East's largest Christian community, have repeatedly cried out for help from discrimination, as well as outright attacks, at the hands of the country's majority Muslim population," notes the Associated Press.

In April, the Islamic State claimed responsibility for a barbaric attack on Christians practicing their faith on Palm Sunday. Setting off two explosive devices via suicide bombers, at least 44 Copts were murdered and over 100 more were injured in the blasts.

Anther recent attack on the Coptic Christian community claimed by ISIS took place in December, where "a 26-pound bomb exploded in Cairo’s main Coptic Christian Cathedral, killing 25 people and injuring 49 others. The cathedral was packed with parishioners at the time of the blast. Most of the victims were women and children," reported Daily Wire's Joshua Yasmeh.

In February, Islamic militants released a propaganda video in which they describe Christians in Egypt as their "favorite prey," notes the AP. The footage featured shots of one of the suicide bombers from the ISIS attack on Copts in December.

"God gave orders to kill every infidel," says one AK-47-carrying militant in the video.

The U.S. Embassy in Cairo issued a security warning on Wednesday, notes AP, "stating that it was aware of a potential threat posted on a website by the Hassm Group, a known terrorist organization, suggesting some kind of unspecified action that evening."

A recent study from The Center for Studies on New Religions found Christians to be the most persecuted worldwide. "The study found that over 90,000 Christians were murdered in 2016, 30 percent of whom at the hands of Islamic terrorists." Raymond Ibrahim addressed this issue in a PragerU video on "the world's most persecuted minority: Christians":
