Alice in Chains...>Nirvana...and I love both bands.
I was in high school when these bands were on the top of the world.
I also liked Soundgarden and thought they were interesting and have their CD's.

Alice in Chains was my favourite band through out highschool. I graduated in 94. The Album Dirt is still in my top 10.

Soundgarden's first album was crap, decent crap, but crap. Superunknown was very overrated. Soundgarden's best CD was their last. Most of those songs are uber.

Alice in Chains had more quality per CD. I was just listening to them last night and remembered how bad ass they were.
One time i saw Jerry Cantrell in concert, he was opening for Metallica. I kept my fingers crossed that he'd bust out an Alice song.

Yeah, Soundgarden had some great songs but the pure doom factor and innsular music Alice was dropping was gold.

Sap

I was at the show. I missed most of his set though because we parked like 2 miles from Retama Park. I think I caught about 20 minutes of it. I'm glad he didn't play any Alice songs. It wouldn't be the same without Staley singing them.

This was back in 96, right? Haha, i was like 13

it was my first concert.

Was Days of the New the first opening act?

We missed like 1/4 of Cantrell's set. I had heard his single on MTV, and did not like it, but after hearing him perform his songs live, I got the CD the next day. I thought it was so fascinating how listening to a band live can change your persepective of how they sound.

Alice is the most musically talented hard rock band of all time. They could do anything they wanted and it sounded great.

Both are great bands, but the brilliance of Alice In Chains puts them over the top.

Jar of Flies, Unplugged are the greatest acoustic rock albums ever...

It was in '97. I'm glad I missed Days of the New, they suck. It was a cool show, I had about 15 joints rolled up for it. It was a kick ass show.

97, huh? Damn, that really wasn't too long ago. I thought it was wayyyy back.

I wasn't smoking then, but it woulda been awesome to smoke it up in that huge lynch mob surrounding the stage.

I remember Jerry Cantrell asked this chick to take her shirt and bra off, and she did, and then he said her bra was fuckin dirty looking
hahahahaha

I thought AIC was underrated. I would like to see a poll between AIC and Nirvana. That would be interesting

Shelly

I would still vote AIC or Nirvana.

I was never a big Nirvana fan to begin with.

If the lead singer injects copious amounts of heroin daily, then the band gets bonus points.

Chris Cornell was always too busy doing his hair.

If you bring in Nirvana you have to also bring in Pearl Jam and they top that list.

Pearl Jam is way overrated. Ten is overrated. I've heard all the songs and have heard better cd's. The stuff gets old quick. VS was probably my favorite cd of theirs. AIC is way better though.

mookie2001

pearl jam is overrated if you judge on the popularity of ten
not their music as a whole

Alice is/was one of my favorites of all-time. Facelift is incredible.

My favorite song of all time from Alice is "Sunshine."

I love Soundgarden too and I was fortunate enough to see them during the Superunknown tour at Sunken Gardens. I never did get to check out Alice.

working like a dog. my first day off will be this Sunday, after 13 days straight of working. And that's only cause the Disaster Recovery Center decided to be closed on Sundays. Otherwise I'd still be working. FEMA is keeping my ass busy. speaking of that I gotta go to bed :sleep sorry batman! lol :lol

1. Pearl Jam (as a band better than Nirvana)
2. Nirvana (Kurt was the best talent of the era)
3. Alice
3a. The Smashing Pumpkins
5. STP (if Scott Weiland would have put down the needle, they could have been at the top of this list)
6. Soundgarden (Cornell is an amazing songwriter, but there was also a lot of so so stuff Soundgarden put out)

BTW, Alice's unplugged album is awesome, but Nirvana still holds the best unplugged album. That thing is awesome. Kurt's songwriting is really on display there.
