Whether you're on team Paul or wildly against its good to see the Spurs in national discussion especially with this spectacle of a Finals we're about to have.

Not unlike that buzz worthy early July 2015 period.

nice read, I agree on most points! Dejounte had one the best defensive ratings throughout the playoffs for the Spurs! That means, his defense is already there. And he is only going to get better offensively :)

Murray is a scrub. He has nowhere near the finishing skills of say, rookie TP. And rookie TP was a far better shooter.

DeTwinky Murray has lot of way to go. Minimum 2 years more to be even starting calibre let alone playoff worthy

Pop better not waste Kawhis prime years

He certainly was this season. But he's a very-bright-near-future-scrub :lol Compared to HOTS at the same age we can say he's a scrub. But I don't care. Pop needs to handle the keys and push him out of the nest when ready. This is Spursta.

Kawhi will still be in his prime 4 years from now let alone two.

We need to define what's a scrub first then.

Despite playing just sporadically in his rookie year, he already looks better than Kris Dunn, who has no offensive game, whatsoever.

Murray has the tools. But I'm not going to get too high. People got pretty high on Anderson. Look how that turned out.

How'd it end up? The guy who some people pretend was better than Jimmer just was an "MVP candidate" while leading his team to an Eastern Conference Finals. Meanwhile, Jimmer went and won an overseas MVP in his first try.

Dunn was highly regarded. What happened.

He just looks lost offensively.

He's not a good ball distributor, he has no outside shot and rarely drives to the hoop. His defense is pretty good, though.

There's no way in hell the Wolves deal Ricky Rubio until they can upgrade the PG spot. Dunn isn't the answer even if he improves.

Then again, it might be. If you have a chance at getting CP3, you do it. Murray will get plenty of minutes and learn from watching.

Don't even need to read the preceding messages. Money considerations aside, anyone arguing Murray over CP3 in the short term is brain dead.

It will be interesting to see how Murray develops. His fearlessness is a big plus. It's hard to measure how coachable a player is. There's potential. He has a LOT of work to do, but could be a decent player. Kawhi is a good influence as far as work ethic ,hitting the weight room, etc.

I haven't given much serious consideration to him because of the money, but of course he'd be a great add...and he might even find the right environment to win with the Spurs.

I wonder where Murray would rank in this year's draft had he decided to stay for his sophomore season.

Well, he would have been second string at UW, behind some guy named Markell Fultz.

Wasn't someone here calling Anderson Magic Johnson before his rookie season? I remember a poster here going on about how special he is and that he had a Magic Johnson like game.

Murray has potential, but he has a very long way to go befire he fulfills it, and it remains to be seen if he will.
I like his defense and length. I like that he can slash to the basket. He desperately needs to improve his handle and jumper to have a chance. In the meantime Pop would be an idiot to waste Kawhi's prime w a developing PG. We need a quality starter or better.

Diaw 2.0 was a favorite. Shaun Livingston was another more grounded comparison.

But 75 pages of it were all one poster so it doesn't count.
