Probably the worst confed lineup.
Considering the fact that both Australia and Chile are more likely to miss out the world cup than make it same goes new Zealand..tournament kinda sucks.

valid point tbh, but we have this god given talent of beating any team that has low organization and isn't 2-3 tiers above us in talent .. it's just what it is, I'm not saying we're beating portugal 10 out of 10 but that we just match up well with them.
We won't push hard at all (roster is obvious) but this competition is interesting because we get so many decent teams that rarely have a chance at some silverware. Imo look out for russia/australia/portugal, they'll all bring it.

you are wrong. it does matter as it is a chance to add silverware for 2nd and 3rd tiers, any tournament is a win in my book.
Also it matters A LOT because it's the first FIFA competition with video reffing and it's GREAT because it will clean up the game a lot, especially the bullshit.

:lol tbh we have a very weak shot at repeating. Anywhere else in europe and we have a regular contender's shot, but in Russia we could play our HOF 11 in peak form and we won't win.
Not sure how it'll be for the confederations cup but in '18 the crowds will boo the FUCK out of us, refs will make honest mistakes for the other team or just whistle the game in our disfavor (soft against technical teams, hard against kick and run teams), we'll get a weird flu, the bus will get stuck in traffic and all kinds of usual shit. :lol
Not to mention the whole politics and press shit (ww2, sanctions, syria). I just accept the quarters/semi final loss tbh, that's why I hoped for midgetina to show some balls so I could bandwagon you niggas if needed be. Sincerely hope you niggas make it, a world cup without all big teams (germany/italy/france/spain/brasil/argentina/low countries/ england) is just sad tbh.

Look at the lineup Germany is fielding, it's a joke. Even Mexico has held some players back. It's a joke of a tournament but I do agree that the VAR is massive and I hope it gets implemented everywhere.

tbh if you'd look with more attention you'd see how a contender can take this competition seriously without intending to win it: use it as the ultimate training ground for the young players. No huge pressure, real coaching, opponents that badly want to win (2nd/3rd tiers). Look at our (kindergarten) team, they are talented but inconsistent because they have zero experience. Last game vs australia is a great game for them and will pay huge dividents in a year when the cream of this crop will be used for true big games.
Imo the tournament is also a bit underrated on the coaching side because coaches get more leeway in implementing strategy.

“I probably wouldn’t be sad if it didn’t take place in 2021,” said Loew, 57, admitting he is not a fan of the eight-team Confederations Cup, the warm-up tournament held one year before the World Cup.
https://worldsoccertalk.com/2017/05/18/germanys-loew-wants-2021-confed-cup-scrapped/
It's meaningless. Sure if you're a Mexico or something and want some silverware great, but at the end of the day, it's a pointless tournament for B team squads. It's a training camp exercise and nothing more. Not sure how it gives it meaning if the better teams are willing to fuck around and experiment and not give a shit. Won't be surprised to see this get scrapped as Loew is right on the money. We have enough summer tournaments as it is.

chile put a good roster (sanchez, vidal, vargas) out there while we went with our B/C/youth team with Low smelling his balls instead of coaching .... chile scored on a huge mistake while we even created the offense for a goal. The Saudis aren't losing against UAE and they have a superior goal difference
And they're significant underdogs against Japan.

Son I'm contemplating a visit to Germany (among other countries) for next january/february. Besides Berlin what do you recommend?
lots to see in Deutschland tbh, but January/February is not the best time to visit imo.
You already mentioned Berlin, lots to see both historic and contemporary. Great nightlife tbh. Potsdam is next door, worth a visit if you have the time.
Koln and Munich are beautiful cities with lots to see, for all tastes. I've lived in Munich some time ago and it's got a real charm tbh. Munich is also VERY foreigner friendly (30% of population is foreign). Koln can get cloudy and rainy in a hurry tbh.
Stuttgart and Nuremberg have lots to show both as an imperial cities and as an important recent ('30-'45) historic places :lol Stuttgart and Munich are also great if you like cars.
Dresden is a magnificent cultural city, but you need to be aware that area has a neo-nazi presence.
If you want to see nature the south has lots of sights (lake Konstanz, Danube, the Alps, etc).
If you're into amusement parks you can check out Europa Park.
Not much to see in Bonn/Dusseldorf/Essen area tbh. Industrial stuff tbh. Hamburg is so fucking rainy I won't even mention it, lots to see but it's isolated up north from a tourist pov.
Bayeruth if you're interesting in Wagner.
South of Munich you get a lot of nature and castles, most renowed are : Linderhof, Hohenschwangau, Neuschwanstein
Old Frankfurt is also a nice visit.
The ideal route to maximize Germany would be berlin/potsdam->leipzig->dresden->bayeruth->nuremberg->munich ->castles -> konstanz(summer!) ->stuttgart->karlsruhe->frankfurt trip ... it shows east/west old/new north/south. Best done with a car tbh. You'd need at least 2 weeks for this tbh. Bolded are really worth it tbh. Never been to konstanz in winter but during summer it's awesome tbh.

stupid fucking kids, celebrating change :cry and technology :cry even when it doesnt provide the supposed benefits (less mistakes) but is sure as shit providing all the negatives (slow shit down, another cloud of rules/manipulation to what happens on the field). how about you pick a lane, why didnt your precious TECHNOLOGY! catch a crystal clear penalty? Or is it only used to disallow goals for offsides by 10cm?
speaking of which, i read your other reply about chile's goals vs cameroon being offsides. I want chile to lose (or win, then miss the WC, even better!), but that was total bull shit. Offsides is a rule against poaching, it was never meant to disallow goals because the attacker was half a step ahead of the defender. On that play, Vargas is never gaining an advantage from being ahead of the defender, he is barely ahead of him. The rule as I was taught my whole life is that on those ultra close calls, the attacker has the benefit of the doubt, ie, you have to be a full step ahead to be offsides. When I saw the replay of that goal, my first thought was "thats the typical bull shit offsides that is called in modern soccer, chile got away with it". But then they put the blue lines in and the more I see it the more I cant believe they actually changed that call. If they are going to call offsides THAT precisely, then they need to show a side by side replay of the ball being played forward. OR, have a bit of common fucking sense and use it to disqualify goals from poachers and not a well timed through ball that was at a maximum 10 cm ahead if that:

son I am against change for the sake of change but the bolded part is absolutely wrong. You have to understand that the players are accelerating in different directions and a half a foot away + acceleration = clear path to goal.
I know what you were taught because even in the late 80s/early 90s they were teaching the same in Germany, but they were doing it only because there was no tech to prove/disprove positioning. The camera angle doesn't matter, the lines are digitally exact (I've seen this in industrial work), if they're using decent tech the lines have millimeter precision. I've recently talked to one of my youth coaches (who is now an assistant coach in the 2nd div) and in modern (last 3-5 year) coaching courses they emphasize the acceleration difference and the advantage it brings.
Also vidal is in the process of passing so this frame is a bit before the ball leaves the foot. So yes, this is an offside, hard to call but tech makes it easier.

Trolling aside they did play better on the pitch, at least better then they usually play (which is poor these days). And yes son that Euro was the equivalent of winning the lottery, but still they beat some tough teams (poland, france) who'd beat chile tbh. Portugal had one of the easiest paths in euro history, don't give the tough team crap. France folded badly in the final and was completely lost once Ronaldo went down. Ronaldo may be one of the most fortunate players in recent history when it comes to the number of offside goals his teams always benefit from and the fact that they changed the rules for the euro otherwise his team doesn't even qualify to get out of the group stage.

son portugal won because of a fluke but they also lost 2004 to an even bigger fluke. 2004 should've been their ring tbh, got out tough group (spain, greece, russia when they were ok), went through the last good english squad, then through a stacked netherlands just to lose at home. History has a way of evening things tbh, penaldo lost in 2004 as a baby but won in 16 as the man, that's life, you just have to man up and play, doesn't matter if only for 20 minutes.
