Kyle Anderson: up and comer, 5 year value $66 mill
Davis Bertans: rotation player, 5 year value $41 mill
Jon Simmons: defensive specialist, 5 year value $ 5.6 mill (hmmm potential overpayment)
Patty Mills: rotation player, 5 year value: $36.8 mill
Dejounte Murray: project, 5 year value: $18.7 mill (could change so quickly bc he's about to turn 21 years old... still so young and a hard worker)
Derrick White: marginal prospect :wow: 5 year value: $4.2 mill
Blossomgame: marginal prospect :wow: 5 year value: $-1.4 mill :lol
Bryn Forbes: project, 5 year value: $3.8 mill
Lamarcus Aldridge: average starter :wow : 5 year value: $ 44 mill :depressedless than KA and around Davis 5 folks! plus expected to decline.
Danny Green: key role player: 5 year value: $59.6 mill :toast higher than Aldridge, although expected to decline.

Very interesting forecasts. obviously younger players are difficult to forecast. they can make leaps in development that these algorithms can't individually account for I imagine.

Kawhi - 275 mil over 5 year projection.

I'm not surprised at this. True superstars far outperform even maximum contracts. LeBron James has been the biggest case in point.

So it should be easy to replace LMA's value next year.

Lamarcus is one of the leagues best defenders and scores with pretty good efficiency and isn't a HUGE black hole on O or anything.

What is their algorithm for this? I know its a modified ELO but details are needed

IMO... they need to move in a different direction, a different PF.
I don't know if ppl witnessed the same thing I did:
guys played worse with Lamarcus, he made everyone worse.

:lol disagree. He was kept in the deep bench tbh.
difficult to be impactful if he doesn't play regularly.. not even veterans can deal like that. everyone needs to play to get rythm confidence etc. He showed up in the playoffs... but you are free to hate... free country so long as Trump allows it I bet lol

The real fun here is to apply 538's analysis to potential free agent acquisitions. For example:

George Hill
Category: KEY ROLE PLAYER
5-yr market value: $59.1m

Derrick Rose
Category: OFFENSIVE SPECIALIST
5-yr market value: -$6.9m

JJ Redick
Category: ROTATION PLAYER
5-yr market value: $13.4m

Jrue Holiday
Category: AVERAGE STARTER
5-yr market value: $87.0m

He won't make that much. He may not even be an every game rotation player, depending on whether Simmons and Manu returns.

It's a forecast based on prior performance.

He might not get half of that in RFA after next season, which might mean that his next contract may end up being a steal.
