View Full Version : What's the Spurs' playoff seeding next year?

I predict a 5 or 6 seed. Gasol is going to have a big drop off and the Spurs will miss Dedmon a lot. And with the wolves, thunder, and rockets getting better, Spurs will be lucky to get in the top half of the bracket.

Between 2 and 5 and we lose in the second round.

I accidentally voted then wrong one. But I say 3rd seed due to familiarity if we keep this same squad.

6. GS, Houston, Minn, Denver, OKC ahead of them.

Would be very surprised if they finished worse than 3rd, tbh..continuity is huge in the NBA for regular season success..

They're a Kawhi Leonard sprained ankle away from missing the postseason.

Think we finish 3rd in a close race tbh. Could take 2nd seed though.

Barring a serious injury to Kawhi, we could fall anywhere in the top three. If Curry sprains an ankle we might even catch GS.

2. I still don't expect the T'Wolves to be that amazing. They'll make noise, but not enough to knock the Spurs out of 2nd.

And yeah, Kawhi is only gonna get better. Still not hit his prime

Unless you have an unfathomable level of talent with an existing system like GSW it takes time to work things out. No reason for the Spurs to not have a top 3 seed.

Premature, but I don't see OKC/Minn/NO passing them up for number 3 seed.

Houston looks to be a coin toss for that 2nd.

My reasoning is based on the 2017 team not being a really talented roster, and they still had the 1 seed on March 13.
Again they relied on the likes of Min wagers Dedmon, D-Leaguer prodigy Simmons, and a 39 year old Manu Ginobili.

And won 60 games with that. Not to mention 7 new players they had to incorporate.

2nd or 3rd seed, but clearly outclassed in talent by several teams, which'll show in the postseason.

The two seed but expending more effort to get there.

Yup. Who's scoring for San Antonio besides kawhi? They're replacing Parker, Simmons, and Dedmon with far lesser talent.

Need to see how FA ends before making any definitive predictions, but right now I wouldn't be surprised if they find themselves the 6/7 seed. Lot of holes on the roster right now.

2 or 3. They're still going to drill most teams partly because the league is terrible right now.

Presuming relative health for everyone, 2nd or 3rd mainly due to Leonard and continuity. More importantly, I now see the ceiling as 2nd round. Think Rockets are clear favorites and Thunder are slight ones.

TheGreatYacht

6th or 7th

• 3-4 losses (depending on the schedule) to GS, HOU, OKC, MIN
• They'll split with the Pelicans as per par
• They'll lose 3-4 times to the Clippers bc Doc & Son > Pop & Mills
• Lose twice to the Cavs
• Pop will over-rest Kawhi for injury and PPG dropping purposes
• Parker is out till Feb, so that's 10 L's at least

49-33 at best
44-38 at worst

Will wait until training camp to make a prediction. No one knows what Manu will do and we're on the SECOND DAY of free agency. I want to say somewhere between 3-5, but it's too early to say.

Anybody willing to back it up with $, tbh? 1.5 to 1 that Spurs don't finish worse than 3rd and 2 to 1 that they don't finish worse than 4th..

no I am not. I don't gamble.
but I was pessimistic on seeding this year bc:
1. I would rather Spurs prioritize development. It's clear their remaining players of the old big 3 are now injured/old or retired, and LMA is not a Spur in sprit, may even be gone after this season, so they need to play the young guys and develop. Find a gem there or flip someone for an asset. Whatever they do, they have to develop those guys. If they mess up a game or two, so be it. I will probably be disappointed in this bc Pop will go back to playing the old veterans...
2. If Manu retires I think it will definitely affect the Spurs, or even let's say he comes back but is DONE... like really Done, he should have retired DONE, let's play the young guys and bench Manu Done. The old man was still pulling off games from the bench after the Spurs slow starts due to LMA shooting bricks. Spurs will miss that and NO JSimms is no substitution for that.
3. Have to give it to some other teams who improved and will get up to play the Spurs.

I think 3rd at worst, but the offseason is still young and many things can happen both good and bad until then.
I'll consider monetary bets in October. No sooner.

Exactly.

Not dissimilar to David Robinson's prime years.

Pretty much what I've been saying. My vote as a 3rd-5th seed was mostly pessimistic, but a 2nd seed and a 2nd round exit seems likely.

It's hilarious how everybody thinks the Timberwolves are suddenly a top four team.

They're anywhere from a 6th seed to missing the playoffs altogether.

I think Denver has the potential to be better than Minny.

As for the Spurs, I'm thinking 3rd seed.

They're a Kawhi Leonard sprained ankle away from missing the postseason. Curry or Durant sprain an ankle then we might be #1.
