Now that we signed up Rudy Gay, what do you think would be our death lineup, could we counter the warriors?

Dejounte, Simms, KL, Rudy Gay, and Kyle Anderson

I am not convinced yet, but I think if they develop some chemistry would do well is short stretches. Kyle Anderson has been great defending KD, which allows for Dejounte and Rudy to take on the splash brothers and have Kawhi on Draymond Green. I don't see how you can defend them, that's a team with 5 players that can all drive to the basket and convert at a high percentage, they all can shoot too.

Remember when Pop said he wanted to players that can pose multiple threads offensively.

Cheers!

Would rather: Simmons, Green, Leonard, Gay, LMA

You have size and mobility.

Green -- Curry
Gay -- Klay
Leonard -- Durant
LMA -- Iggy
Simmons -- Dray

Sure, great lineup if they can switch out during the offensive possessions. Otherwise, turnover, turnover, turnover... hey a dunk.. woot! Turnover... bad foul, another bad foul... oh a fight.

Anderson cannot be the starting PG. He's too fucking slow and easy to trap. Murray doesn't have the handles either. It has to be Patty Mills until Parker returns. Someone has to prevent the turnover, and no one does that better than Patty and Tony. Patty shoots every trip and Tony just dribbles the clock out.

Blossomgame is in a tight spot he reminds me of Malik Rose ( 1st few seasons) but with a 3pt shot.

OP is the same dude telling me Aldridge is the best second option the Spurs have had in a long time when the Spurs second options between 1997-98 and 2014-15 have been David Robinson, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and Tim Duncan.

Kyle Anderson will never appear in anything that would be referred to as a "death lineup."

rasuo214

Anderson is too small to play the 5. He'd need to bulk up quite a bit and hope not to lose any more of that precious speed.

My Friend, I meant since we won it all in 2014, cheers :)

Like you pointed out, since we had Lamarcus pretty much,

What I am saying is that we used to have two of our big three 2/3 at their primes since ever, and now it's been one (Kawhi) out of three, or 1/3. If you count Kawhi, LMA, and Tony as your big-3 of this era.

Listen, Lamarcus game does not translate very well in today's NBA. It has been stated elsewhere that post-ups are not the most efficient way to score. Do you think a 2014-post Timmy would have won us a game vs the Warriors? Hhmmm I am not sure to be honest.

In 2014, TD's post up game against the Thunder and the Heat helped the Spurs win a ring. If they put guards on a big it would be stupid to not post up. The reason small ball works is you put more of your skilled players on the floor at the same time but the difficulty has always been defense/rebounding.

At the end of the day you have to play to your stengths and the Warriors have the best small ball lineup in basketball. You're not going to beat them that way because you don't have a better small ball lineup. You might have 1 or 2 players that are better small ball players but that's probably not enough. If you have skilled bigs that can post you have to use that as an advantage.

Separate Gay and LMA and kick Pau out, and that's the highest-ceiling lineup for the Spurs.

Exactly. If Parker is actually decently healthy (which I think is no chance) and can play at even the level he did last year in the playoffs?

Kawhi was out of commission when the season ended.
Tony was out of commission when the season ended.
Gay had a season ending Achilles tear.
David Lee couldn't finish the season because of a knee injury. (I know he opted out.)
Murray is on "limited minutes"?

We could easily field a Dead Lineup.

You may be right. He played well in the playoffs but people seem to forget he was just "ok" for most of the year. A little too wild and reckless with the ball and hasn't developed his outside shot either.

Jabari Young: In gaging the Rudy Gay signing around the #NBA …one thing was interesting. The possibility of Kawhi starting the season at PG. #Spurs 14 hours ago – via Twitter JabariJYoung
I mean can you imagine this?
Spurs have 5 PGs in the team or combo guards, or whatever we want to call it. 2 drafted most recently in B2B seasons, plus their most significant signing so far in terms of pricing is Patty... all of this bc they wanted to play Kawhi as PG all along.

Jabari is really... I don't have words to describe him...

I have an idea......counter the warriors death line up........

With the beyond death line up, along these ideal lines......

Olajuwon, or Duncan, or Robinson, or Shaq or Wilt at center
Plus four all galaxy pressure defenders,
Jordan, Pippen, Kobe and Kawhi!!!!

Something like tha5, thats the formula.

The league has moved away from going big so 3s won't be an issue. We can run and slash and gun during majority of 1stQ. Then bring Patty and Green to nail those 3s.

Having many slashers to kick the ball out is something that can maybe demoralize a team such as GS.
