Bigger deal than most think. Especially with teams only being allowed 2 timeouts in the last 3 minutes of a game. And I'm all for it. Trying to speed the game up.

On the flip side, teams will have less timeouts to stop the Warriors' runs :lol

Fuck all those time-outs anyway. But they need to reduce the number of total time-outs per quarter, not just the number of time-outs teams can take. Those automatic stops are terrible too.

Also, the trade deadline will now be 2 weeks earlier.

so maybe pop can stop calling timeouts when the other team starts the 3rd quarter on a 2-0 run

In reality, there never were any 20 second timeouts.

Get rid of live ball timeouts while you are at it.

wish they would've got rid of the mandatory timeouts each quarter and let the game flow. let teams call timeouts.

I don't think they can afford to do that. They need to have those timeouts to make sure they show certain commercials to make their money. At least that's what I think.

18...14...Fiba is 10 (2 first, 3 second half per team) and only at dead ball situations.

It basically have been 1 and 3 minute timeouts (+maybe 5 seconds) Worked perfectly skipping that amount of time when not watching live.

there is no such thing as a 20 second timeout. 20 second timeouts last over a minute. I've never understood that shit. For the life of me, I have no idea how any NBA player gets tired playing a 48 minute game over the courst of 2 and a half hours. 18 timeouts, tv timeouts, free throws, injuries and mfs are getting tired? HOW???? There is a break in action every minute or so. How often have you seen an NBA game in which there were 5 continuous minutes of play with no fouls or dead balls?

But then sit on his hands when the Worriers go on their 25-2 bullshit runs

One more sked wrinkle: league trying hard to have teams in marquee national TV games (ABC Saturday) both coming off a rest day, sources say.

They certainly don't have the conditioning of a rugby player. For sure.

Or to bench the entire A team in a playoff game as soon as they're down 10 to start the 3rd. That said, I don't like this rule change as it hurts older teams like us with less breaks.

Poop had no fucking clue on what to adjust during those runs, hence no timeouts. "Pounding the rock" has always been his favorite excuse for sitting on his hands.

Agreed. There are enough timeouts with TV tiemouts at 6:00 and 2:00 left anyway. Plus those 20 second timeouts are like full timeouts once TV and their commercials get involved.

Length and late and close situations didn't really bother me until the past 2 seasons. Even then, don't get why the NFL, which has longer games to begin with and is similar when late and close, gets a free pass. Guessing because the masses have been brainwashed into thinking its rocket science, so it's just accepted.

Needed changes, but ironic that the league that has the shortest games, is the one most consumed with condensing them.

Why would they add manditory timeouts under 7 and 3 minutes?

You mean 6 and 3 and they didn't just add them. They're TV timeouts and will never be done away with entirely (I'm surprised they got rid of the under 9's) because of the money their sponsors pay for running their advertisements during them.

Mandatory or not, some timeouts are necessary for rest purposes too.

Might as well play by allstar or playground rules. Defense and strategy are dead in the NBA.

:pop: I want some nasty

Player A: That's nice, but what do we do about Livingston posting up Mills?

:pop: Figure it out. It's just basketball.

Bad news for the Spurs. Fewer and shorter timeouts means less time to rest those old legs. Fewer timeouts in the final 3 minutes of the game also neutralizes our coaching advantage, with Pop being a master at drawing up end-of-game plays out of timeouts.
