Ha, thanks. I'll have to check it out. As a player I guess you have to be mentally strong enough to handle that sort of coaching style. It ain't for everyone. That's what made our big 3 , mainly TD so special. Set the bar

It's a long and interesting interview. I recommend reading you can see the context
``I need to be able to be comfortable and play basketball and not worry that if I make a mistake whether I’ll be on the bench or not,’’ Simmons said. ``So, coming here has helped me with that and I’m happy.

Thanks for sharing.. it's interesting, I get where he's coming from, but he should also keep in mind the guys who have started out similarly but their roles grew more. He had more and more freedom as the season went a long it seemed.
At the end of the day, he made the move he felt best for him. If Orlando isn't a playoff team, I do wonder if he'll miss playing post-season ball

if we are going to compare Paul with Simmons, lets look at his ability to attack the basket. He has not shown that ability or aggression yet in comparison to Simmons. Spurs have a lot of shooters, but more "attack the basket" mentality. Simmons provided that element.
First of all: you can't never have enough shooters, tbh. Second: the Spurs don't have a lot of shooters. The last couple of years the Spurs have been on the bottom of attempted threes. That's because we have/had a bunch of guys that can't shoot nor make threes consistently. Last season we had: Simmons, Tony, Anderson, Murray, LA, Gasol, Dedmon, Lee. Too many guys getting minutes that just wouldn't shoot enough threes. So switching Simmons for a good three point shooter was a major improvement.
Anyway, BP3 is a very good slasher. At least that's what all the socuting reports indicate. That we haven't seen it yet, it doesn't mean he can't do it.

Eh... the Spurs keep winning and winning and there's a reason why and it's not all talent, for sure.
I have zero qualms over his departure. He's not a Manu talent that can just be Manu and transcend while he makes wild decisions and sometimes mistakes.
There's playing winning basketball and then doing what you think you do best, which may not be winning basketball.
This team will keep on winning without him.
What do you think about tonight? Who's got this?

I always have the Spurs even when it's irrational, but I have some trepidation with this game. One of the reasons is purely irrational, the stat the Spurs have never gone 5-0 to start the season... I am like Han Solo when it comes to that, "never tell me the odds."

On top of that the Magic as a team have been absolutely ON FIRE... So, I am wishing for Patty 50Mills to go off tbh. Spurs win but I am not very confident in this one.

1st you are talking about last years team, i am talking about this years team. Kawhi, LA, Gasol, Bertans, Forbes, Mills, Ginobil,Green.,Paul..even Lauvergne, and Andersen can shoot threes. A great or successful offense is neither a bunch of guys shooting 3's, or mid range ahots. It's about breaking down the defense by attacking the basket. Jonathan Simmons was/is successful 8 out 10 times with that part of his game. It keeps the offense from being stale and predictable. If this is a part of Paul's game, I would love to see it and look forward to it.

lol getting fooled by empty stats Simmons. Even with this flukey start for him and his team the dude still can't post net positive efficiency ratings. :lol

Folks like Gasol, LA, Lauvergne and Anderson shoot like 1 three per game each at most. That's not enough in today's NBA. They don't count as shooters, tbh.

Carried Manure's corpse in his backpack when playoff time came :lol
Typical Manure. Can't shoot over 40% even when it seems he's not as cancerous as usual

I'm interested to see what he can do with ball in his hands...obviously shooting is his strength but he was a "PG" coming into the league...

Is BP3 Simmons 2.0? Showing some promise only to have some team like the Suns overpay for him in the offseason?

I don't think he has the ceiling of Simmons but he could be like a Pat Beverly type. I believe Simmons has 6th man of the year award potential. He should be in the conversation to start this young year. He's already averaging 16 and it's going up by the day as he gets more minutes and touches.
