The rule changed a decade ago with a long lead time for managers to pay taxes on money accumulated before.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Steven Cohen faces taxes on $1 billion in deferred pay, while other managers could see tax bills of more than $100 million.

The Joint Committee on Taxation estimated in 2008 that total payments from hedge fund managers could be at least $25 billion.

I have no doubt Trash's IRS will hold this loophole open
