At least you have the possibility for a one-point home run, two-point home run, two-run RBI, occasional three-run RBI, three-point home run, and grand slam.

In jokeball sports (soccer, hockey, lacrosse etc) it's either a goal (extremely low scoring for a fast paced game; whoever designed the game with goalies is retarded) or not a goal, which is almost always the case. "Saves" are so booooooooooooring.

The goalie in soccer is about as glorified (another subjective measure) as the goalie in hockey or a good centre in basketball. The most glorified position in baseball is the pitcher who's main purpose is to get the opposition to swing at air.
