Anthony lifts Nuggets over Trail Blazers, 112-85

EL PASO, Texas (AP) - Carmelo Anthony scored 23 points to lead the Denver Nuggets past the Portland Trail Blazers 112-85 in a preseason game Saturday night at the Don Haskins Center.

Voshon Lenard and DerMarr Johnson each had 17 points for Denver, which turned an 11-point halftime lead into a rout in the third quarter. Anthony had 14 of his 23 points in the period. He was 8-of-17 from the field and grabbed six rebounds.

Eduardo Najera had 10 points in 23 minutes and received the biggest cheers from the crowd of more than 10,000, many of whom came from Mexico to see him play.
Darius Miles led Portland with 13 points and Juan Dixon and Martell Webster each ahd 12. The Trail Blazers missed 15 of 38 free throws and allowed the Nuggets to shoot 53.2 percent from the field (42-for-79).

Portland scored the first six points of the game, but Denver had opened up a double digit lead by the end of the quarter.
