Louise Linton, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin's wife, has issued an apology after setting social media abuzz with her Instagram couture hashtags and condescension toward another user Monday.
After a visit to Louisville, Kentucky with Mnuchin, Linton posted this Instagram about her "great #daytrip" -- and she added hashtags highlighting her designer garb and accessories: Roland Mouret pants, Tom Ford sunglasses, Hermes scarf and Valentino heels.

Soon after, another user responded, "Glad we could pay for your little getaway. #deplorable." The comment bothered Linton enough so that she wrote a lengthy and condescending reply punctuated with emojis to jennimiller29.*

Aw!!! Did you think this was a personal trip?! Adorable!" Lintonrote. "Do you think the US govt paid for our honeymoon or personal travel?! Lololol. Have you given more to the economy than me and my husband? Either as an individual earner in taxes OR in self sacrifice to your country? I'm pretty sure we paid more taxed toward our day 'trip' than you did. Pretty sure the amount we sacrifice per year is a lot more than you'd be willing to sacrifice if the choice was yours. You're adorably out of touch. Thanks for the passive aggressive nasty comment."
Linton even took the trouble to look at the social media account of her critic.*
"Your kids look very cute. Your life looks cute. I know you're mad but deep down you're really nice and so am I," she continued.
And she advised, "Sending me passive aggressive Instagram comments isn't going to make life feel better. Maybe a nice message, one filled with wisdom and hunanity [SIC] would get more traction. Have a pleasant evening. Go chill out and watch the new game of thrones. It's fab!"

Trump’s Treasury Secretary’s Wife’s Instagram Post Just Backfired, Federal Inquiry Has Launched
The U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of the Inspector General has just opened a formal inquiry (https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/treasury-inspector-general-to-review-mnuchin-flight-to-ft-knox/2017/08/31/d9e122d4-8eb2-11e7-91d5-ab4e4bb76a3a_story.html?utm_term=.d3266bb5d62c) into Secretary Steve Mnuchin for taking his much-publicized trip on a government jet to Kentucky with his wife, to watch the eclipse from Fort Knox.
Secretary Mnuchin says that he really scheduled the trip to Kentucky to speak at a local chamber of commerce event with Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).
But
his scheduled speech ended at just the right time to visit Fort Knox with the Senator, Kentucky’s Governor, among others, for the ideal view of the total solar eclipse. :lol
The Washington Post reports (https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/treasury-inspector-general-to-review-mnuchin-flight-to-ft-knox/2017/08/31/d9e122d4-8eb2-11e7-91d5-ab4e4bb76a3a_story.html?utm_term=.63716b697bce):
“We are reviewing the circumstances of the Secretary’s August 21 flight . . . to determine whether all applicable travel, ethics, and appropriation laws and policies were observed,” counsel Rich Delmar wrote in a statement to The Washington Post late Thursday.
“When our review is complete, we will advise the appropriate officials, in accordance with the Inspector General Act and established procedures,” Delmar added.
After the eclipse, McConnell captioned his Facebook photo (http://nypost.com/2017/08/25/mnuchin-viewed-the-solar-eclipse-atop-200b-of-gold/) with Mnuchin “We viewed the #solareclipse from the rooftop today,”
but later edited the post to include more official sounding duties (https://www.facebook.com/mitchmcconnell/photos/a.638062266232468.1073741827.123994667639233/1507136465991706/?type=3&theater). :lol

A trip to Kentucky cost about the same as a trip anywhere else in the US.. so.. ?
You act like Kentucky is a 3rd world country. Kentucky is one of the nicest states in the US. If you've ever driven through it and weren't posting on ST during the time, you'd have seen just how wealthy it is.

:lol wtf are you talking about?
You have obviously never been to Louisville or Lexington. I get that you identify with white trash but the state is a cesspool. The people in the surrounding states like Ohio, Indiana, and Virginia mock them routinely.
Between the drug addiction and the severe poverty cycle in the state it has real issues. If you want the pretty landscape without the fear of Deliverance types I recommend Tennessee.

You going to do anything other than try to big time, tell us your narrative in your head that you have about me, and make brain dead analogies? You know like talk about the state as opposed to talk around the subject like lying pieces of shit are prone to do?
The proper analogy would be "like calling California a 3rd world state then citing Los Angeles and San Francisco.' See, Lexington and Louisville -like the aforementioned two-- are the two largest metro areas in their states. IF you really want to bash large sections of California as opposed to sounding like some faggot that watches a lot of TV you should try the stretch from Bakersfield to Modesto.
But as shitty as that area of the San Joaquin Valley is, it does not hold a candle to Eastern Kentucky. Stretches of the area did not have running water until the 1990s. I know a family from the area that thought they were somebody because they got plumbing first.
Frankly if you like the area up North you might as well keep going into the actual river valley in Ohio. If you like the rolling hills areas to the south you might as well keep trucking to Nashville than deal with the people there in KY. If you like the west or East you're just a dumbfuck. Shoe does seem to fit with you though.
Although it does make a certain amount of sense that you are from TN and pine for KY you remind me more than a little than some trailer trash I ran into around southern Louisville. You would fit right in with them.
So you're saying he needed the government help? Or were you just triggered by the italics? :lmao
Neither. I'm asking why travelling to Kentucky is somehow easier than travelling to other states.

So exactly what is it about KY that you like so much? Is it the rampant Christian literalism running around the area? You can try to deflect but you don't know shit about Kentucky is all I am getting from you.
For something so wonderful you have an obvious inability to articulate how it is so.
And dumbfuck I never insinuated that you were a devout christian. I was just describing what it is like driving around in the area. The whole state is full of run down churches in metal buildings with billboards promoting them. If you had been there you would know that. Great place for an atheist :rolleyes
Then of course you have all the meth and pillheads.
I've been in Louisville, Lexington, and Cincinnati. That is how I know what the deal with KY is. I've been in the Carolinas, Virginia, and Tennessee too. That is how I know about the place. Everyone in the surrounding areas thinks it's a shithole too. Cause it is.

Kentucky is more than the triangle you use to ingress and egress, and that 2 star hotel where you stayed (or the shithole mexican restaurant up the street from it).
At least now I know why you went. You interviewed everyone in the area about the state of Kentucky, thus your stupid remark.

Oh the line by line. Fatty is worked up now.
Still nothing indicating you know shit about the place. Instead you make up stories about the hotels I stayed in and display poor critical thinking. More on that in a sec.
I have a good friend who lives in Cinci. I meet up with him and a couple of others every few years to hit up Kentucky Downs or go to King's Island. I know people that live in both Lexington and Louisville. I never said it was a triangle. I was just saying where I have been and actually stayed. I've been through Arkansas several times and with all the rice growers, that state smells like shit all the time too. I don't knwo what they think there I have never stayed nor wanted to.
It is funny that you mention a mexican restaurant because the last one I was in in Kentucky smelled like a cat box. We left. When you go to the derby its better to stay in Nashville than it is Louisville. A friend of mine who drove down from Michigan last time we went told me that there were billboards in Indiana that told Kentuckians to go home.
I also never said that Lexington was the poor part. I said you remind me of the trailer trash in southern Louisville for a reason, tubby. That being said it is not all that great and the area around it is full of some of the most backwards people for 500 miles. If you are looking for Appalachia and a good time then go to Charlotte that way you can work your way up tobacco road and up into Richmond. I really like the area around Hampton and Norfolk.
And for fucks same, dim, I was being facetious about you liking the churches and billboards. That should have been obvious given the adjectives that I used. I get that you are all worked up but I recommend rereading what I wrote and trying harder on the critical thinking. That is just sad, fattie.

Sure, Colorado is beautiful as well, so is California and Arkansas and Missouri and a lot of other states and places. Because I think most states have natural beauty, I don't think Utah is special in that sense. All states are special, which means none are, I suppose. Fake news reader trying to spin the truth instead of just quoting me.
What I actually said was "Kentucky is one of the nicest states in the US. If you've ever driven through it and weren't posting on ST during the time, you'd have seen just how wealthy it is."
How are you going to see financial wealth by driving through the state? When I said "nicest" do you think I meant savings accounts?
You are one stupid little man.

You left out the sentence the paragraph started with "You act like Kentucky is a 3rd world country."
3rd world countries are by definition economically underdeveloped. Your omission goes to show how much of a disingenuous piece of shit you are. Have you met Darrin?
And as I pointed out, KY in areas is very much like a 3rd world country. Up in the appalachia area running water is only a recent development. That is what I was speaking to when I pointed that out, dim.
Nice is ambiguous. When people are talking about how nice a neighborhood or area is they scale it according to economic development. The nicest neighborhoods being where the wealthy people are.
What is not ambiguous is the word wealth. Please point me to the defintion that points to aesthetic beauty. I won't be holding my breath.
And if you cannot see signs of wealth by looking at an area driving around then you are an imbecile.

Why did you move the goalpost from "wealth" to "signs of wealth"? Did I say "signs of wealth" in my statement? Rich and wealthy are similar. If I say that food is rich, will you check it's bank account?
When you drive across Kentucky, you're not looking at neighborhoods. When you say "Utah is nice" do you mean it has nice homes? If I say "Boulder Colorado is nice" am I referring to the houses?.
You're an idiot. Just slink back into your "lost the election" hole you crawled out of, faggot.

ALL 50 STATES, RANKED BY THEIR BEAUTY
18. Kentucky
Culturally this state can never decide whether it's part of the Midwest, the South, or Appalachia. Geographically it doesn't care, because it rocks the highlights of all those regions: the pocky hollers and mountain views in the east, 400-mile-long Mammoth Cave, and an abundance of rolling, grassy hills. You can still find family tobacco farms on the back roads, but the most distinct part of the landscape is that symbiosis between horses and luminous pastures. People here swear they can see the grass glint blue, hence the name. Green or blue, it all makes you want to stop and marvel.

One of the definitions of wealth is an abundance. IOW, an abundance of offering, dim. That does not equate beauty and wealth.
You never gave any word that indicated beauty before you said wealth. You did give a phrase indicating economic development though, fattie. That was the context clue you gave and then tried to cover up.
I do like how my protip bothered you that you parroted it back at me. That let's me know the rhetoric is working. Now no run along and try googling again.

Now add in the sentence before and after, dimwit. You know the ones talking about the third world and wealth.
Again no definition of wealth that equates it to beauty. You're the one whining about my rhetoric though.
Protip: if you are trying ot big time someone do not whine about their rhetoric.
Nice megalomania though.

I never said there weren't wealthy or beautiful locations. There are similar parts in third world countries too, brother killer.
We are talking about the state wealth as a whole not your cherry picked locations. Bottom line is that for every horse ranch there are thousands of trailers and the state is bottom 5 in per capita income. Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana are much the same way.
And if it makes you feel superior for you to make up stories about my finances then more power to you. Just makes you seem an incredibly insecure nouveau riche type at best.

I used the abstract form of the noun "wealth" to mean natural beauty, which is how you'd see it if you drove around. You philo'd out and got all pedantic because you're insecure, and I broke it off in your ass.

Given your penchant for pseudo intellectual takes I find this a joke. You have not come up with a single example of anyone ever using wealth to mean beauty. There is no reason for anyone to buy what you are selling.
You are doing the same thing you always do. Make an unfounded assertion dressed up with a intellectual facade. When called on you make it about the person who is calling you on it entirely. You have made up stories about my job, income, intelligence, demeanor, intent, method, and everything but justify your bullshit. I have seen you do this exact same thing with race, claimate, economics, government, court cases, sports, stats, and every subject under the sun.
Nothing of note from your claim of a wealthy Kentucky either

The Official Inquiry Into Mnuchin And His Wife’s Travel Scandal On Instagram Just Struck Gold
A government inquiry into Steven Mnuchin and Louise Linton’s use of government travel has revealed (http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/treasury-secretary-mnuchin-requested-government-jet-european-honeymoon/story?id=49777076) that the
Treasury Secretary did indeed request a government jet for him and his wife to travel on their honeymoon to France, Scotland, and Italy this summer.
Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR), the top Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, lashed out at the absurd request.
“You don’t need a giant rulebook of government requirements to just say yourself, ‘This is common sense, it’s wrong,'” Wyden said. “That’s just slap your forehead stuff.”
Mnuchin and Linton have also come under fire for allegedly using a U.S. Air Force jet – which comes at a cost of $25,000 per hour to operate – to view the solar eclipse last month in Fort Knox, Kentucky, which falls within the “line of totality,” where the eclipse could be best experienced.
The Treasury Department’s Office of Inspector General has launched official “inquiries (http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/treasury-secretary-mnuchin-requested-government-jet-european-honeymoon/story?id=49777076)” into both the Kentucky trip and the honeymoon travel request.
