Another quality group for midget to pad his stats.

Looking forward to see if midget will finally be able to score vs Juventus after failing to do so in 180 minutes.

group G was funny, a pretty balanced group where everybody had hope for a weak 4th pot and then they draw Leipzig, the faces where funny as hell :lmao
celtic and anderlecht in group B, might as well play the knockout games for EL right now :lol
barcelona is in an underrated tough group, juventus are juventus and both olympiakos and sporting have strong home courts tbh ..

overall beautiful groups, the new rules :toast

just shows you the quality of the competition tbh, just too much unregulated money in UCL, and the result is 4-5 teams siphoning all the talent, leaving people to ignore the rest of the game just to talk who between missi and penaldo likes little boys best. The last bastion of competitive football is still in the NT competitions imo. Great games to be had in the UCL but they should impose some financial/national restrictions tbh.

No Naldo, Real goes back home with a draw. Stay salty.

Ronaldo's position in the 2nd goal is debatable, besides he was sprinting, difficult to judge.

Midget is the one growing roots inside the box and getting gifts from the refs per par.

I said that on the offseason and Madrid fans laughed at me. Ronaldo has little relevance on the level of the team, he is just a poacher. You can find other poachers, granted none as good as him. But I would sell a 33 yearold poacher for 300 millions, get the second best poacher in the World and a true difference making playmaker.

While it seems like a year in which a CL outsider might break through( mainly City and PSG..), the tournament isn't won by peaking in November during the group stages. We have seen this movie before where a bunch of 18 out of 18 pts/+20 GoalDiff teams losing steam by the time March rolls on and get upset (in particular PSG who seems ready for another epic choke given their cancerous lockeroom :lol)..

Don't think Real will Threepeat but they won't play this awful. Bayern have started to turn it around with Heynkess back in charge.. Barca are mostly fine but could have another gear in them..The usual suspects, beside close-but-no-cigar Atletico who are done for real, should not be written off just yet..

3-2 loss to West Ham
1-0 loss to Man U.

They are thinking this win might get them back on track for a strong domestic finish. And they had been having problems at Wembley. We will see if this group play gets them out of their slump. Probably not. Lost their best defender in the 1st half. Lloris may also be injured.

All the promoted teams are on solid footing so far.

I am especially surprised Brighton is playing so strong. Already 5 managerial changes. Pulis goes down very early.

Arsenal can still compete when they feel like it. Ozil and Sanchez both had excellent games at the same time in squashing Tottenham. The top 6 teams are going to have to share the new TV contract money. Money continues to pour in.

Bayern got the most favorable match-up for the 2nd placed teams and Madrid got the worst (at least on paper)

PSG blew their load in November and their defense is vulnerable. If RM catches some form in the next couple of months I wouldn't be shocked to see them humiliate those pretenders yet again. The key is not to concede goals in the first leg and then allow PSG to self destruct with their mental demons and toxic locker room. That team is still very fragile, tbh.

Think Barca will comfortably roll Chelsea. The other low-key ties could be more interesting..

I agree with the major betting odds that now have City as title favorites; overall, they've been the best and most consistent team in the continent the season. Draw-permitting, they will probably have to face one of RM/Barca/Bayern in the Final and those could still prove too experienced for them on the occasion..

Barca really struggles with Chelsea playstyle. Teams that play 4-3-3 in general struggle against teams that pack the back and hold possession. Chelsea might not be consistent enough this year, but in an away and home leg its a nightmare to play against these teams.

PSG vs Real is an almost finals matchup. In most days id pick real because PSG is so mentally questionable but real has really struggled.

We might end up with a surprise winner this year, imo.

Also, PSG needs to invest more on Holding midfieders.

They tend to play straigtforward with their three strikers, but part of the reason why theyr are so vurneable in the defensive end is because of a lack of quality in the middle.

They need holding midfielders that can fill in the gaps defensively, prevent counterattacks...Almost all their midfielders are offensively focused players.

UEFA trying hard to avoid another Spaniard winning the cup tbh

No.

Every EPL team made it through, most as group winners, not the Spanish. If you can't play each other good luck. You finish 2nd you play a group winner. So what is the excuse again?

Barcelona and Real have all the capability of winning again if they return to decent form. If I had to pick now I would take MC. Long way to go though. Injuries, teams start to come together or fall apart. But picking Bayern, Barca, RM, Juventus... you basically have a really good shot. Quality Champions league pedigree.

Spain has very deep problems. There is more.

If one takes a look into how Sevilla actually buys players?
In other words, good teams in La Liga besides RM and Barca.
If you look at the investor-agent-club relationship closely, whoa.
Sevilla has basically laundered $ for international criminals. The German press is going to blow this wide open eventually. They are on this. But very methodical. Stay tuned.

Chelski is in really bad form. Their win over West Brom was actually not good. The Bottom of the table team was ripping thru the Blue. West Brom could have had 3 or 4 goals. So, This is where it gets interesting. To see if the really bad EPL form leads to total domination by Barca.

Stop Hazard and they are done. The addition of Giroud from Arsenal appears beneficial for Hazard as they had no CF to hold the ball up and distribute. Morata was not serving this purpose AND missing easy goals. Conte had Morata as injured but miraculously, when Giroud got cut in the head, Morata was warming up. The dude (Morata) is in an empty dog house and got let out.

Despite making two CL Finals in the last 3 years Juventus are still pretender in Europe..They are well-coached and have nice players but they have been lacking that high-end talent to vault them back among the continent elite to which they belonged between 1996-2003.

and they want to give this clown the ballon award this year? shit if he doesn't turn up for the 2nd leg, he might as well blow that award away....unless he wins the wc or does something at the wc tournament... the award imo is still up for grabs with no clear favorite this year...Ronaldo, messi, Neymar, kane, salah?

Ronaldo is not top 3 Jesus Christ, he’s having he worst year of his career so far and having a third of his CL goals against APOEL doesn’t change that.

Neymar was sloppy with his passing but did have his moments, he just needs to not be so selfish. PSG has their chances but they are soft mentally. They just need to win 2-0 but I think it’s over. Neymar has had a good season overall and Messi, neymar and De Bruyne should be top 3 as of today however PSG flaming out this early will hurt his chances. Madrid will have to win UCL at a minimum for Ronaldo to even be considered in the top 3, Madrid have been shit for most of this season and Ronaldo absolutely deserves some of the blame for that.

The betting odds have Messi far ahead as the favourite as they should. Barca are undefeated in league play and running away with La Liga and exceeded expectations. Messi has been incredible and consistent all season long.

The World Cup will be interesting, if Brazil wins it then Neymar could take it possibly.

Messi made a layup.

Mistake by Cahill pounced on and a beautiful pass by Inestia.
INESTIA. Do you guys actually watch these games and then just constantly worry about a Messi v. Ronaldo fictional duel?

Willian could have had 3 goals. That's really the way Chelsea wanted the game to go, Barca with the ball, and Chelsea attacking on the infrequent bad pass. sometimes the plan works fairly well but you don't get the result.

Much like Ronaldo has layups every match? Yes, Iniesta was fantastic on the play, but he was spotty throughout the match, Messi was fantastic. Also, it was Christiansen not Cahill with the horrible pass, Cahill didn't even play today. Do you actually watch the games?

Props to Conte, his gameplan was excellent.

And also, Messi had quite a tidy finish on that shot, Courtois went completely the wrong way.

My bad...
correct, it was not Cahill.

I have no dog in the fight. I just get sick of the Ronaldo v. Messi thing. They were never even were the same type of player and play different roles. Ronaldo plays an even more altered game now with his loss of speed. Messi is a bit younger so he is still super quick.Ronaldo has improved his finishing passThey both are (were) fantastic players. This was Chelsea v. Barca. Can't we keep it at that.

Im personally sad that Chelsea is playing better as I would like Tottenham to finish in the top 4 asnd I thought Chlsea was showing hints of slumping against better teams.

I’m just messing with you and I actually think Barca were lucky as hell. It was a complete opposite to 2012 when Barca thoroughly outplayed Chelsea but still lost because of some defensive mistakes.

Chelsea have a BRUTAL schedule over the next 4-5 weeks, Tottenham’s comeback against Juve was impressive. Outside of City, most teams fail to keep up results with consistency so I expect Chelsea to get a bit tired during this stretch. Tottenham has an easier schedule coming up so that should help them.

Now things like the above could actually make this forum informative.

Indeed Tottenham has gotten through a tough part of the schedule. I am still not confident Tottenham can match Juve's prowess at Wembley though. And I'm really worried that if Tottenham does not make the top 4, and players get raided, then the perpetual Europa league trips begin again.

I think this competition is so interesting as teams have to adapt to different refs, different styles, different crowds. Some teams are in this every year. The newcomer teams make it even more interesting. You have a competition in "soccer" that give you games that have the possibility of being endlessly interesting but can turn into complete duds or be great. Cherish that. Instead of Ronaldo v. Messi...it's so old and tired. This kind of thing makes the game so refreshing compared to "American" sports for me.

And then putting a proper WC team together... This game has some fabulous built in features, not to mention what actually happens during a game.

Always had some sort of sympathy for them, then when Zidane came over the interest grew (again). Tough to watch any games earlier here. Since a few years it is easier and the arrival from Khedira and Özil made it even more interesting. So, since 10-11 years i hardly missed any game.
