Not sure if San Antonio is seeing this, but people in Austin are freaking out about a "gas crisis", causing gigantic lines at the pumps and leading to stations running out of gas.

There is no gas shortage. It's just a self-fulfilling prophecy being perpetuated by social media and word of mouth.

Go buy gas if your tank is near E, but don't go fill up your half-empty tank just to hoard it.

Same shit in San Antonio

This shit is also happening in NC. Pretty damn frustrating considering there would be more than enough of gas if people weren't panicking and just filled their cars up at a normal rate instead of hoarding. Fuck the media for creating this mess.

I filled it up. I don't give a shit.

All the little gas stations are out. And they are price gouging. 3 dollars in some areas. The big gas stations can handle some of the strain.

People in Dallas are freaking out too. Fucking retards.

Xevious

Yeah, hopefully this shit dies off in a couple days. We have no weekend plans, and have enough gas between our vehicles to get us through next week if need be.

Xevious

And there have been fights at the pumps over who's turn it is and shit. People are crazy. When shit hits the fan, it's every man for himself.

What are you all seeing it for? I just took my dog for a walk and saw it's $2.55 now. Man I paid $1.97 a gallon last week to fill the tank.

I filled mine last night (got lucky that it was time to fill it right before people went crazy) for 2.30 in the uptown Dallas area which isn't bad at all.

People are pretty stupid.

It's crazy in Austin, every station is price gauging and lined down the block. We filled up on Tuesday in anticipation of this; funny thing is tomorrow or Saturday all will be back to normal. There is no shortage at all, in fact there is a surplus of gas.

Still lines of 15+ at both my neighborhood stations. $2.36 up from $2.06 when I filled up Sunday.

Maaaaaan I was at Wal-Mart in a long ass line an as soon as I got 1 car back from the pump, they ran out!!! Then I had to call in to work cuz I had to find a gas station. This shit is soooooo fucking retarded. I was low on gas cuz I was running low an today was my payday. So I get gas every payday.

Gas / refinery shortage is all an act, a scam, by design.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/boosting-big-oil-profits/

You can read the internal documents for yourself. Chevron, Texaco.

"Internal documents from some of America's biggest oil companies suggest higher prices at the pump may, in part, be a result of a deliberate strategy to limit domestic gasoline production..."

So who's been out yet? Are people still in full retard mode this morning as gas stations get fueled back up?

I think there's a difference between gouging during a shortage and raising the price because of mass hysteria raising the demand.

Ya'll still buying the there's no shortage it's just hoarders line.

Solution: Don't drive much, if at all, for another week or so until this dies down and the prices start to go back down. Walk/bike to Walmart or your nearest grocery store if you need food. If it's too hot, go in the evening after the heat of the day has passed.

It shouldn't change anybody's life for an increase in a tank or two. But what do you think happens to everything else when fuel prices go up for extended periods of time? Retailers don't eat the increase in shipping costs, it gets passed on to the customer.

Yeah past week or so I've been paying about 3.10 for 87 in northridge area. Arco is cheaper but doesn't accept CC's which sucks. Gas is the easiest way to rack up points
