If we're being honest, no one except Wilt/Shaq/Lebron/MJ has had a season better than the GOAT in 2015-16.
Winning 3 rings in a row basically shits all over the OP, although I agree Kobe is a hyped up marketing tool for a franchise that couldn't hold on to Shaq.

cant deny this fact tbh. the massive overhype on kobe's career is linked to his 5 championship titles but 4 out of those 5 series weren't much impressive and some were unfortunately abysmal.
love watching him during his prime but any laker fan can attest to the frustration kobe brought to the team in the finals.
but fwiw and a s a consolation, he had some pretty amazing playoff series against WCF teams.

Reading comprehension, Philo. I didn't just say " he won 3 rings", I said he won 3 in a row. There was one season where he won his 3rd in a row.

Are you guys talking overall or in the finals?
Overall, currys got Chris paul, john wall, Irving, Westbrook, harden, Conley, walker, Lowry, Isaiah Thomas. Irving is the only one of note in the finals
For Kobe, it's tmac, carter, AI, Pierce, Allen, ginobili, bobby/Christie, bonus wells, Bowen
I'd say they are pretty even competition wise, but curry was the first option and his competition were mostly first option, Kobe was the second banana and was measured against mostly first options, so those aren't really his actual competition.

Haters can hate but there's no doubt that Kobe had the secret sauce for winning. There have only been five players since the 70s who have been at an MVP level and also won five championships: Jordan, Magic, Kareem, Duncan and Kobe.
And only two of those players have repeated multiple times: Jordan and Kobe.

An owner that brought him Shaq first and MVPau later when he was pouting? Or a commissioner that admitted he would have a Lakers vs Lakers Final every year if he could?

Harden is extremely likely to be an MVP player. Irving has a chance.
Pierce, Tmac, AI, Allen, ginobili are locks. That's five. Who else?
Chris paul is a lock. Westbrook is pretty much a lock (can't think of any mvps who didn't make the hall). Harden is highly likely. Wall and Irving has a chance if they keep it up (like tmac and Allen). That's five.

Irving hit the 3 that sealed the championship and the backdoor sweep... As good as Lebron is, everybody needs some help, tbh... Wall, Isaiah, Russ... they're all the best players on their respective teams (EDIT: or were), the PG position in the current NBA is pretty stacked...
Take the SG position as contrast... you have Harden and the 2nd best guy is way down... back in the day you had Wade, T-Mac, Ray Allen, prime Manu, RIP... the position was stacked, even if T-Mac or Ray didn't really win anything when they were 1st bananas...

tbf, I specifically named 'regular season Chris Paul'... the PG position is pretty stacked right now, and I'm not trying to take anything away from Curry, he's dope, but there's a lot of great talent at his position...
Sure, he sometimes has to compete with the Porkers of the world and has some easy nights, but overall, there's competition out there.

Kobe also did face Reggie Miller in those 2000 finals. 24.3 PPG. Also Vince Carter is probably a lock as well.

True. Kobe played 19 years. Currys going on his 7th. And the competition they faced is already comparable.
Btw, Kobe's competition in the 2000 finals was Austin croshere. No need to change it to a HoFer to fit your narrative.
And if people want to make fun of Irving playing against dellanova, then be sure to have Kobe's matchup correct and name Eric snow instead of AI.

So what? Are players divided into two groups, HoFers and non-HoFers, and then they should only be compared within? Sam Jones won 8, so Sam Jones > Jordan?
It is a retarded argument to use team accomplishments to compare individual players, something Kobestans will only use situationally.
