How the hell did Harden end up with a 95 overall :lmao

95 and above should have been reserved for the the SF trio..Harden should be below Curry and Westbrook.

The thing I hate about 2K nowadays is all the cumbersome animations and cutscenes. It really slows everything down, and huge chunks of it are either unskippable, or you have to go in each game and change the setting. I paid the $60 bucks. At this point, I couldn't care less if the programmers' hard work is being passed over. I don't want to go through a half-time show. I don't want to "talk" with Ernie and the guys. I don't want to see what MBJ thinks about being traded. I just want to play a game.

I don't think I'll be getting this game. Maybe next July when Steam has it on sale for like $15-20. The updated rosters just aren't work it, and it seems like the only thing they've added is more online stuff.

Aside from the mycareer crap, the gameplay is actually really smooth. You can finally run sets without all of the players getting stuck. It's worth picking up imo

Does it still take an hour for the ref to give you the ball to inbound? Fucking glitch has been in since 2k9.

I bought the game either on release, or within a month's time of relase every year from 05 to 14. Starting at about 12, I would rent them first because of 10 sucking soooooo fucking bad, and would still buy them afterwards, regardless.

What I hated was how they would needlessly alter the controls every year. Yeah, sometimes for the better, but when they did it wrong, my god it was bad. I forgot what year it was, but when they made you hold the L trigger for passing, my god, that was just awful. I kept 14 til 17, 15 was the same story of needless control overhauls, and just didnt play enough in 16 to warrant buying it. Got 17 only because i tradex gta 5 for it, its good. I just traded it in for 18. Hope Im not perpetuating this loathsome cycle.

really?

this was my biggest problem. if you run horns for example, it became more of a play than a set...The play developed so slow that you could only go through the first option..even 2k17 is like that.

so if this is true..this is a major step forward.

this shit looks the same as 2k15, but, instead of making the gameplay better, they concentrate on some stupid features like ''run the neighborhood''. I am pretty sure that retard ronnie 2k never played basketball in real life.

Also the longest wingspan I could choose as a 6'7" SF was around 6'9"...lame. Even going that high screws up your initial stats.

Gameplay/flow of game feels slow. Think I'm definitely going to be speeding it up in the options.

Yup the players get in position fast and it all flows so smoothly. I was messing around with the plays and fleelance sets in the 2kU scrimmage and i could feel the difference compared to the previous games

You can play as the 2005 Spurs in this one, plus the All-time Teams for every franchise. That alone makes it worth buying.

That's one shitty aspect. The other is that every narrative is some poor black kid with legrider friends who's parents died and who leans too hard on the coach, who is trying to score a retirement fund from the genetically gifted black kid. That might be a common theme but not every NBA player fits that narrative, not every gamer wants to hear that narrative told over and over. I'd prefer the Grant Hill story tbh.

Even if you select a white kid, the antebellum is thick.

I haven't played 18, so I won't dispute you there, but the clunkiness is all over 17. One of the big things is cut-aways in MyCareer. I don't care to see my dude backing up celebrating when I'm trying to play full-court press. It makes is even worse when I get dinged for poor defense in those situations, like I had any control over the matter. I don't remember if it was in 17, but 2K's long had the problem where you have to disable replays every game rather than being able to block when in your normal settings menu. If I want the experience of watching a game, I'll fucking watch a game. I am playing this for fun, not to marvel at the art.

The other thing, though, is the animations during the game. I can't say how many times I've been going for a break-away layup only to get blocked because my guy tries a flashy move, or how many times I try to pull up for a short jumper only to see the player wait for contact and go into this awful contested-layup animation instead. The passing in 17 wasn't intuitive at all. I'd really appreciate a system where the type of pass you're trying to make is determined by the direction you push the stick in, rather than button combos. Like if you're leading a guy cutting in from the corner, you just have to push A and left or right; or you could press up to lob and down to bounce. Instead, I see some really stupid decisions by my guy, whether it's tossing the ball into the opponent's hands or leading a guy who is totally open into coverage. Just dumb.

I don't care for the story mode much at all. I'd rather then include a documentary about a certain player's rise each year rather than sit through all that story shit. I appreciate the RPG aspects of MyCareer, but I miss the way it was in like 2K13 where you leveled up mostly in games with a occasional minigames thrown in.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I do. Buy the new 2K every 2-3 years, and usually wait until it's on the cheap.

I just picked up 2K17 a couple months ago for like 25 bucks and am still working through it anyways. Unless there are are some major overhauls in this one, I'll probably just hold out.

Acording to one poster here, the sets are finally smooth.

Up until 2017, it takes forever to even start a set..If you call horns for example, it would take till maybe the 14 second mark of the shoot clock before everyone is in position..That's a huge improvement if true..

I haven't played enough to tweak anything so far.. I haven't noticed anything yet other than how hard it is to run these days, but I think it's really a matter of me not knowing all the nuances of the run controls yet..

so you like the way it plays on default all madden? I might try it. Normal speed moves too fast for me, the hits are too hard and etc. might just move it to slow.

If you mean pro evolution soccer, you can go to pesuniverse.com, there you can select an option file. If you pay 5$ or 10$ you become a silver/gold member and get the roster/kits/logos/new leagues and everything early when they change something and if you're a free member, you'll just gonna have to wait some time and then they'll upload it there. You do have to download it first on PC then put it on USB so you can put it into a PS4. If you're an Xbox1 user I don't know how it is.

Kawhi actually feels a bit better, if anything. Maybe it's just that the gameplay overall feels more fluid and responsive this year, but I've been beasting with Leonard like never before on both ends. I find the new shot meter easier to use too, especially because the controller vibrates at the optimal release point.

Gay is pretty good too. He can make open 3s and has disruptive length on D. I've been starting him at 2 with Leonard at 3 (maybe it should be the other way around?), but I also play him at 4 with Aldridge at 5. Not sure if he's that versatile in real life, lol, but it works in 2K.

Only if you want shiny new graphics, man. 2k is really lazy and the game itself isn't much of a big improvement from last year's title. Some examples of 2k's laziness is that the new classic teams are only 6-8 players deep, most players have the wrong numbers, players who are on the all-time teams aren't on the classic teams that they should be on (James Posey is on the Grizzlies all-time team but not on the 06 Heat or 08 Celtics). Another example of laziness is that Amare (as well as others) were literally copied and pasted from the 04-05 Suns onto the 11-12 Knicks and the all-time Knicks (no goggles, is wearing #32, and still jumps 40 inches). Don't get me started on the all-time Spurs...Also, the current 2017-2018 roster isn't accurate, and small features like simply changing a player's unique traits (badges) or eye color isn't available. Association mode is full of glitches too.

Also, if you give a fuck about the lame MyCareer mode, be ready for tons of grinding or to pay-to-win, as well as a bunch of dirty forced microtransactions for mundane features like paying money to change your hairstyle.

Might as well just update last year's game roster and stick with that.

^Nah, the gameplay is actually improved in a lot of ways...and I've noticed a lot of new animations to make the action feel more realistic. I thought the All-time Spurs were fine, but the 05 Spurs were poorly done (only 7 actual players).

Pros
-new engine (runs smooth character models and animations are amazingly lifelike)
-new mycareer system (you can practice the drills you want to and workout at your pace)
-new level up system (makes for more dynamic skill sets and is also fun)
-interaction with other online players in an open environment (builds and bonds the community)
-soundtrack is pretty decent nice mix of old school and new stuff
-AI defense is remarkable
-AI doesn't run out of bounds (an old bug)
-playing defense overall is much easier (you don't feel like you're on skates)
-controls are the same from last year
-court sounds come through your controller (nice effect)
-acting in mycareer is much better with genuine funny moments
Did I mention the graphics are amazing? The controls feel smooth and responsive similar to NBA Live in its glory years.

Cons
-new engine! Time to relearn everything...
-load times are laughably long, no improvements from last year
-game obviously wants you to buy VC more than ever leveling up is a grind!
-network errors galore and game freezing glitches (hope these get ironed out soon)
-micro transactions in sports games just sucks imo
-your mycareer player is GARBAGE you will get frustrated with the improved AI even on pro mode!

Not much else to say but BUY THIS GAME or GameFly it like I did :tu

They have to change things around every year like they're "improving" things so you keep buying the game. They COULD make the perfect game, but then you would never buy it again. It's a never ending cycle.

-Improve A, mess up B.

-Next year, Leave A alone, fix B, mess up C.

-Next year, mess up A again, leave B alone, fix C.

-Repeat cycle
