Sucks to hear that the help after Hurricane Hugo wasn't ideal given all the damage and of that magnitude. Hopefully we can all do better this time. God bless them , especially with the next one coming in as well.

Irma blitzed them out then Jose wrecked them too. Back to Back major hurricanes (140mph+) in less than a week or so. Very sad.

Thank goodness it wasn't, and that they didn't rebuild his swimming pool in time. Otherwise the Spurs would have already been in Kansas City, St. Louis or Seattle for the last 15 years & not looked back. "The Admiral" a very distant San Antonio memory with nothing left in the old city but minor league sports, drugs, and rancid greasy tacos, nor any championship memory to drink.

Kinda off topic (I donated my 20, mmkay?) but I think it was Buck Harvey who wrote an article about San Antonio if Tim Duncan never came- Called "The Tim Duncan Effect" or something like that.

And Yeah, San Antonio sucked without him. Buck provided real numbers like revenue the Spurs brought to city, and the events that came because of the Spurs. Also, how they boost moral, etc. If I wasn't so lazy, I'd try and look for it, also I think E-N makes you pay just to type their URL in.

I made a donation because ST. Thomas used to be my second home and where I hoped to retire. After Hugo the devastation was so great many people only had the blue tarps that FEMA provided for their roofs because they had no insurance. Too expensve. And those tarps were still the only roofs on some of the poorer parts of the island years later. Irma was much more powerful than HUgo when it hit. In fact, the islands were the only place where Irma was a bona fide Category 5 hurricane when it hit land.

I'm sure the guys on Spurstalk that are always talking race have already donated to help their brothers who make up the majority of the population of the USVI, but I hope this won't descend into a racial argument. Let's answer Tim's call. He carried the team for so many years. Now he's just asking for a little payback for his family, friends, and neighbors.

I think it has more to do with how much national support and relief Houston was immediately receiving due to all mass amount of national coverage, whereas the US Virgin Islands are not only his hometown, but are far less populated, easily forgettable, and certainly wouldn't receive much attention from the majority of Americans tbh.

Last week I found a BEFORE and AFTER shot of the USVI and BVI from our satellites. On the before shot the islands were the normal lush green color of a tropical island. On the after shot, they were uniformly brown without a spot of green. I found some individual shots of the damage and you couldn't find a tree anywhere in the pix that had any leaves on it, no green bushes, nothing.

And yesterday they got hit again. Un-fucking believable.

Hope you have been able to communicate.

PR has been getting back slowly. Seems too slowly considering the needs and the amount of supplies getting there, which apparently cannot be distributed fast enough.

DMC (http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/member.php?u=20665), oddly enough, PR cannot vote for the president but can vote in the preliminaries. They voted for Hillary over Bernie.

Ppl are still in good spirits in general... Some ppl lost everything though... And like 12% of the island has power and we are under curfew at night time... But we still manage to do the best we can... Most businesses are open when the curfew is lifted, so that helps in making things feel almost normal... Im missing the hell out of the spurs though... Lol.. seems like what's going on in PR.

It's weird though that the VI are smaller and they're still at 12% power (PR is ~15%). PR is also having a curfew that the government has been shortening. I've just been trying to help however I can.

I'm keeping the islands in my prayers and hoping everything works out fast. I'm glad the people are keeping their spirits up.
