Pau address the contract. As well-discussed here he opted out to give the team space to pursue some major free agents (i.e. Chris Paul) and trusted them to not make him regret that decision because he was committed to being a Spur.

He's lost weight and it sounds like he hopes to start.

Not surprised. TD21 and myself had kind of assumed that. I havee to give credit to TD21. He was the first who thought that was likely. I just assumed Pop would preserve the illusion that LMA was a 4 by starting the two together, even if he played others at the 4 more.

An interesting aspect is as you said, were Manu's comments in media day that he hopes LMA is there for the entire season. If he were to get traded midseason, Pau would be the most significant big and his $16 million contract entirely justified in hindsight + he'd need chemistry with the starters.

It is possible that the uncertainty with LMA made them want to secure a very skilled (if ageing) big who can even initiate the offense out of the post/high post/elbow. One thing that was evident in the playoffs after both Tony and Kawhi were out, was how few players on this team can make plays for others. Couple that with the deal they had to make with Pau to opt out so they could roll the dice for Paul, and the contract is understandable. Not necessarily acceptable but understandable.

Hopefully that isn't Rudy in shock because he realizes Day1 he'll never be the same after the achilles.

That's a little bit tragic if true for him. I know you were humorous.
I have thought about this a lot but will hold that thought and wait to see him. :tu

Why isn't he on there??

Because he sucked. :lol

Seriously though, as mentioned in one of the other threads, he signed a G-League contract in Austin and the Spurs still have his draft rights. I guess the team felt like he wasn't ready yet.

Manu is so media/fan savvy. He needs do one where he brings an old retired basketball "friend" to practice, carpool karaoke style. :)

I think the Spurs soured on Diaw after 2016. He didn't have the competitive fire anymore, which he only further showed in Utah.

As for Lee, I'm still really surprised. I assumed he was leaving to get a payday, which obviously isn't happening now. I figured the Spurs would bring him back if he could be on the cheap, but maybe there is something health-wise still going on considering no team has really seemed to show interest in him after a very solid season.

Costello signed a two-way deal. He wasn't competing with Lee for a spot.

The height listings are off. Either Brandon Paul is not really 6'4" or Derrick White is taller than that.

I always thought White was closer to 6-5 and Paul to 6-3. Certainly doesn't seem like Paul is bigger, which that list would have you think.

Derrick White is standing a foot ahead of him. they need to stand side by side.

Theres a better look at them here. At the end of the video both stand side by side. They are indeed closer in height than the picture shows but BP3 may be rounded up. His touted length doesn't stand out in comparison to White either. Hmm. Interesting.

Paul is supposedly 6'2.75'' barefoot and White is supposedly 6'3.25'' barefoot. Wouldn't be the first time listings didn't jive with the eye test though.

A lot of the listings on Spurs' training camp roster are out of date. Yahoo! is closer to up to date.
