The threes are kinda stupid. Dude needs to learn how to catch more. He's a great roll-man if he can hold onto the ball. That's going to be his niche.

if he did that 60 of 82 games last year he would still be a spur

Not surprising he'll get more burn and freedom for a rebuilding team.

The Spurs needed him for rebounding and defense, but that tailed off after he was effective early in the season.

No shit on the threes. Shaq would have to shoot threes in this watery era.

For my mental health I really hope that Dedmon doesn't end up being what I think he can end up being. I lobbied all off-season long to re-sign him.

If he develops a reliable 3pt shot. :lol :bang

They just need to get rid of Hill. I hate running back committees. He's shown flashes when he gets the bulk of the touches.

The only reason I wanted Dedmon back so badly was because of defense and rebounding. I wasn't too impressed with anything that he did on offense. If offense is your argument when it comes to Dedmon, it's a bad one cause his offense was crap.

Simmons, same thing to an extent. I liked his athleticism and potential to use it to become a possbile lock-down defender as he had tools that not many other people are blessed with. He finally started playing better, more consistent defense in the playoffs and he also started taking open shots on offense, so I did want him back if that was how he was going to start playing most of the time. For the right price, I did want him back. I would have paid what he got in Orlando. My main interest with him was also bringing him back for defense. If BP3 can provide the same sort of defense and also dribble the ball better when driving and get to the rim, then I'll have no problem with the Spurs letting him go along with Dedmon too.

from what i saw of simmons the other day i am quite satisfied that the spurs passed on bringing him back. he will have moments, both good and bad, but i think he hit his ceiling and is nowhere near a difference maker. he'll get on sportscenter from time to time though.

Averaging 7 points, 7 rebounds, and less than a block per game as a starter so far. His defensive numbers have slipped back to his Magic days (as I said they were).

Players have better defensive numbers on the Spurs and people always fall for the fool's gold. Take Gasol for example, who was terrible on that side in his last years in LA and Chicago, and now his advanced #'s rised across the board once he came here. That doesn't mean he's a good defender, he's trash. Same goes for Green and Fathead. They always get torched but the team defense hides that tremendously.

Dedmon is shooting 3's at a 33% this season. Gasol at 30%.

Last year's sample is bigger and thus more meaningful. 30% with Kawhi out over 7 games isn't nearly as informative as >50% over 30+ games with Kawhi in.

The difference to me is Pau coming off the bench after the ASG last year. He can rain threes over backup centers all day.

Dedmon has just started shooting threes. He will probably improve. That was the center to sign for the future at just 6 millions per year. Instead we got an old stiff for 10 more millions per year.

I agree, Dedmon at his price is a much better value than Pau at his. But three point shooting is probably the worst angle to base that argument on.

I only mentioned 3 pt % because a poster said that with non-shooters he would rather have Gasol's spacing, I mentioned that Dedmon is shooting better from three (and in about the same number of attempts, I might add). The sample size doesn't really matter because the non-shooters (i.e: Murray and Kyle) are only starting for a short stint at the beggining of the season, because of injuries, tbh.

19 and 12 vs the Celtics. Showing an impressive range of finishes on pick and rolls and pick and pops, including three pointers, mid range jumpers, floaters and ally-oops.

He had 15 and 7 last night vs the Cavs.

Yeah In wondering the same thing.

I think he meant that since Dedmon started playing basketball very late, he still had a lot of room to improve. And that's what we are seeing. The dude doesn't even hesitates when setting up for a long jumper. The other day was throwing lasers beams left and right. Nothing but net.
