No it won't. Just like the Durant rule hasn't affected Durant.
It also means nothing if they're going to still fall for it and be unable to go back to review the call and change it.

"Short version: If a player has not yet gathered the ball when contact occurs, it’s a common foul, not a shooting foul."
"Also, if refs determine that offensive player lunged into defender, or locked his arm to create contact, they could assess offensive foul"
"The key, as NBA officials put it, is "sequencing." If contact comes before player starts shooting motion, it's a common foul. No free throws"
um....isn't that already the rule?

They won't call it on him. They'll call it on scrubs and non-favored teams.

Yep. This is what pisses me off about these rules. They'll also call them more in the first 1/2 of the season and then slowly start calling it less and less as the season goes on after that point.
i think it's a wait and see approach.....you never can be sure of anything in here.

No. This basically puts limits on the continuation rule.

If the NBA were serious about it, they'd take away continuation from beyond the three point line in the first twenty-one seconds of the shot clock.

Moving screens are also against the rules, this rule will be just as useless.

Frauden stat line tonight:
18 points
2-12 FG
0-7 3pt
:wow 14-15 FT
Harden Rule in full effect - Rule = get Harden to line at least 10 times a night.
2 for 12 and still has 18 points

Apparently new rules dont mean shit if not enforced ..
That being said some of the contact calls Harden gets are legit because he is a talented scorer who uses his body well.
NBA needs to limit all scorers not just him from initiating contact on defenders in good position and bailing them out with bullshit calls.
