Unfortunately, the Spurs vs Nuggets game cannot be seen online on Sunday. There is no stream for the matchup and it will not air on TV. This was also the case for the first two preseason games on San Antonio’s schedule.

agreed. His talent is really shooting and scoring, that is the role from where anything else flows, like if he's blitzed or denied, then do something else.. but he has to be aggressive looking to score. If he isn't he'll be out of the league.

feel the same way. just playing the cards he has. he's a shooter and shot maker... if he's not shooting he has really no use out there, especially if he's making his shots.

TimDunkem
10-08-2017, 04:15 PM
My only problem with Forbes is that he'll pull up with hand in his face rather than give it to the wide open guy on the wing, which he has already done several times this game. Reminds me of Parker at his heroball worst.

Again, if he does this more often, I really don't have a problem with him, tbh. If anything, it makes me even more upset about the Pity Mills contract.

but on the Murray front, he pretty much had a perfect half relative to the flaws we all have noticed. He's been keeping the ball low, limiting turnovers and fouls, playing solid on d and offense and just being a solid floor general. Very positive signs. Night and day from summer league.

Spurs are loaded with depth of 3-point shooting and secondary ball handlers. When one or some of the top 8 is out, they could actually get more explosive, just by some combination of Bertans, Forbes, Paul or White, having an increased role . . . too bad they don't have an above average table setter.

Still, wouldn't be surprised if they have, if not their best, at least most aesthetically pleasing offense since '14.

It hasn't looked the same when Pau and LMA share the court. They are together too slow and these guys thrive playing super fast. It was a fun game and everyone got enough shots to get in rhyhtm too, an underrated aspect of playing fast.

Rudy Gay (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/players/21735/rudy-gay) seems to be gelling. Known for forcing looks during his days in Memphis and Sacramento, it was promising to see the 11 year veteran play within the offense Sunday afternoon. It's been a small sample size, but I'm very intrigued by what #22 could bring to the table this season.
It was refreshing to see a confident Bryan Forbes on the floor. The second year sharpshooter was plagued by a severe cold streak shooting the ball in the NBA last season, which significantly hampered him. It will be very interesting to see if he can play his way into a supporting role early in the year while Parker is rehabbing.
It looks like Bertans has put in some work this summer. The lativian sharpshooter clearly put a lot of focus on putting the ball on the ground this offseason. It didn't quite show on the stat sheet today, but you can tell he is much more comfortable being chased off of the 3 point line, as there were a couple of possessions in the first half which saw the big man pump fake and get to the rim. Oh, and that shooting stroke of his didn’t disappear over the 5 month hiatus either. The 6’10 sniper went 2-3 from deep Sunday afternoon.
Murray is continuing to grow as a point guard. The 20 year old out of Washington appears to be focusing on running the offense this preseason rather than his lay making ability that he flashed in the conference finals last year. It appears that Pop and his staff want to develop the young guard’s game slowly after thrusting him into action late in the playoffs last season.

None of this means anything until Kawhi gets back. How his game fits with a free-flowing offense will determine the team's success on that end. It's really easy for LMA to look great in against pre-season D and with him getting the ball every time down the court. We don't know how he'll react to going back to the second option.

Let me add... I think the new gameplan is going to be more hustle to the front court by the bigs, especially Aldridge to gain low post position and he's to be the 1st option, if he succeeds upon gaining said position.
If he don't make it- Kawhi is 1st option and go from there.
If he does- it's on LA to either eat, or try to feed Kawhi 1st then look for who's open, if Kawhi's smothered.

That's exactly what LMA told Michael Wright from ESPN this preseason.

LMA's scoring didn't decrease with Kawhi on court last season so IDK why he cried that much... 17.3 ppg with Kawhi 17 ppg w/o Kawhi

But after all this drama, I agree that Pop will change the way to initiate the offense to benefit LMA in the post.

LMA sounds hungry. Good sigh.
Well, I have a different perspective on this. A Spurs player saying he was "unhappy" because he felt he was being underused, wasn't the focus of offense, didn't make the ASG, isn't positive.

But I'm fine with other fans thinking it's good.

Edit: Also, this isn't just about "Spurs players don't care about stats", this is specifically about LMA's personality.

I can't imagine Bosh telling Spo he was unhappy because he was underutilized...He was willing to be a complementary -suplementary most times- piece. LMA will never be that guy. That's an issue.

Nathan89
10-09-2017, 03:23 AM
I'm happy he spoke up because now based on that article they might utilize him properly. Can't wait to see lma run hard and get into some deep post position. You can't start from midrange if you can't dribble and lma can't dribble. Plus we don't have the off ball players that can just run around like draymond tbh. Also love that Pop told him to work on his 3pt shot. Spread the court and the look for opportunities to duck in and get in great position. Plus minimize the midrange shot at least somewhat.

Can't wait to watch small ball with gay at 4 and a shooting pg/g. Having so much space around kawhi will be amazing.

Same thing can be said for players who get most of theirs during garbage time in the regular season/playoffs.

Indeed, but preseason games don't even count for anything other than the coaches doing their experiments and seeing the marginal talents with more minutes, etc. Even holding a lead in garbage time is a real task and playing against another team's regular players in a loss shows who can compete. I am not among those who dismisses things of that nature. In preseason there's just a lot of marginal talent and experiments playing. It's a good sign, but at the same time, can't put that much stock in it.
