There aren't any great centers on championship level teams, so I think he will be fine defensively (honestly ANYONE is better on defense than "no effort Pau")...

He will provide good spacing on offense, he is very active on both sides, and his defense isn't as bad as some make it out to be... He was the bet defender on Zach Randolph in the playoffs... The one time zbo scored on him was a play where he blocked zbos shot, but zbo got the rebound and put it back up for an and 1... Other than this zbo was pretty frustrated because his physical style wasn't causing Davis to shrink like it did our other bugs...

We need a game changer... We know with Gasol starting, we won't beat the elites in the playoffs... He just can't move his feet quick enough, and his effort is really bad... Gasol is better off being the post up option in the second unit, while Aldridge is the post up option of the first unit with Davis keeping his defender away from the paint... We gotta start moving away from these old guys

I still see no real argument for Gasol over Davis... Its not about how good Davis is... It is about how incredibly bad Gasol is... Especially for THIS NBA... Gasol was the player I get pissed at the most watching spurs games because lack of effort pisses me off... And we KNOW we have a ceiling with Gasol... Davis is better for this NBA and if the gamble works, we may have something special... It happened with draymond... Bertans also plays less way minutes and has a higher usage and players actually try to defend his three. This is kinda like porker shooting 50% from 3 then going 0% in the playoffs vs the clippers. Low usage high percentage and only shooting when you are wide open or no one respects your shot doesn't mean they are a better 3 point shooter. :lol

You'd have to start Aldridge at center and let Bertans start at PF to even have an argument. And I'm just not convinced that Bertans/Aldridge is a better lineup than Aldridge/Gasol, not to mention Aldridge probably wouldn't be content with starting at the 5. Joffrey would look better starting at the 5 but I think he'll probably play better with the bench. Look I'm not a big fan of giving Gasol the contract we just gave him, I really don't like him starting at center either and would be a lot happier with him playing on the bench, but I don't think Bertans starting at center is the fix. Bertans hasn't seemed to get any better.

Davis hasn't shown me he can do much more than shoot threes at this point. He's a chucker...which certainly has it's place in this league, but his game needs to round out better. I'd love to see the kid start getting boards, but that will require a bit more meat on the bones.
