Before the trading deadline, the Spurs explored a trade of Avery Johnson with the Clippers and Hornets, which has left Johnson feeling somewhat betrayed by coach-General Manager Gregg Popovich. Johnson believes he supported Popovich when the team was sliding last season.

But Johnson, who will be a free agent, has been angering teammates with what some thought was selfish complaining about being benched for Terry Porter in many fourth quarters. The grousing resulted in a brawl after a game in Cleveland last month, with Johnson fighting Malik Rose on the locker-room floor.
