Would you trade Kawhi straight-up for The Greek Freak?

Antetokounmpo

Better athlete

Younger

Kawhi-like work ethic

Leonard

Perfect work ethic

More accomplished

More skilled

More injury prone??

No. Giannis seems like a ball-hog right now. I've been complaining about Kawhiso for a couple of years. I can't imagine how I'd handle Gianniso

Giannis is a good player but it's hard to gauge him when he plays on a bad team in a bad conference. We've seen players put up great numbers on bad teams before, but those numbers don't translate into wins when it matters. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Giannis will never learn to shoot. He will never be able to translate his regular season success to the playoffs with such a huge flaw, tbh.

When you are playing teams on the regular season that don't specifically adjust their schemes to stop you, you can get away with scoring 109 pts of 115 in the paint. That shit won't happen agaisnt good teams in the playoffs, tbh.

Both teams say no, for now..However, if it becomes clear this season that Kawhi is trending toward "Injury-prone" category, you do it given the age/health factor overwhelmingly on Giannis side ..

Only a homer wouldn't give it a serious thought.

Giannis also doesn’t have a skilled teammate like LMA bitching about touches. Even if Kawhi could care less it has to be in the back of his mind somewhere. LMA makes the Spurs better but Kawhi will sacrifice touches.

Its fair if Kawhi is as good as he (we all) thinks he is.

From a BBall perspective. Do you take 6’8” LBJ or 6’11 Giannis? You get my drift?

I think KL2 is the better player. By far. All you guys thinking about this are selling Kawhi short (thinking he isn’t as good as he really is) Numbers dont say everything. Exhibit #1 Westbrook.

Interesting question, Bill. It is interesting primarily because Giannis doesn't currently have much of a shot. If he did, he would be in GOAT discussions already and, therefore, untouchable. Because we don't know if he could ever develop a legitimate outside shot, the trade is a bit of a gamble. Kawhi's current health issue makes his end of the deal a question mark, as well. I like rooting for Kawhi. His stoic character has almost as much to do with that as his play. I like the quiet assassin.

Phenomanul
10-22-2017, 04:50 PM
Leonard had 5 or 6 game winning baskets last season, coming up super clutch. I have not seen Giannis do this yet.

TD 21
10-22-2017, 05:01 PM
Either it has to be proven without a shadow of a doubt that Leonard is injury prone or Antetokounmpo has to get at least within' sniffing distance of becoming a mediocre shooter for this to become a legit discussion. Also, the 3.4 age differential is largely irrelevant considering Leonard is only 26.3.

A little OT here but is it fair to compare Kawhi to a player that's 6'11/7ft tall? Sure, they play the same position but at the end of the day size matters.

Since it effectively allows you to play bigger than you are, within' reason, length is more important than height and they both have 7'3'' wingspans.

Because champions are not only based on talent alone but also character. Many were more athletically skilled than Duncan, but they lack the leadership and sacrifice to build a championship team. I'm not sure about the Greek Freak maybe he does, but I think Kawhi has demonstrated that, his willingness to be coached to become a better player, I'm sure he is stepping back to acclimate Aldridge in the system, etc. letting a proven Spurs system work. So if it's not broke, why fix it?

YGWHI
10-22-2017, 06:47 PM
While Giannis has an insane athleticism, the Spurs never relied on super-freak athletes in the last 20 years.

Kawhi's still the most consistent player but comparing both it's all a matter of taste. Do you like an explosive athlete? Do you like a steady, stoic, silent assassin?

However, if it becomes clear this season that Kawhi is trending toward "Injury-prone" category
This from the guy who made a thread saying that dental prodecure, gastroenteritis, pink eye, cold...are injuries. So funny.

BatManu20

It'll never happen anyways, but I wouldn't do it. Kawhi, despite his worrisome injury history, is our guy. Already a Champion and a Finals MVP. 2x DPOY. Just turned 26 and is entering his prime. Most humble, team-oriented superstar in all of professional sports, etc.

Giannis is great and is only 22 (turns 23 in 6 weeks) which is scary because he still has a lot of room to improve, especially jump shooting where he's still poor (career 28% 3-pt shooter). I think people saying yes to this are just forgetting how good Kawhi is because they haven't seen him play in a while. He's top 3 in the league when healthy (#1 on any given night) and the best perimeter defender in the league. I'm taking him.

Careful with a logical and reasonable take! I concur that being there and having gone all the way puts him in a different class. I'm really happy for Kawhi and think he has a bright future ahead of him, hopefully as one the Spurs!

Blake's jump shot was completely broken early on in his career. He didn't become a good jump shooter until he hired a shooting coach who reconstructed his mechanics. Actually, it was the same shooting coach who previously taught Kidd how to shoot jumpers.
