To the Niners, for a 2nd round pick.

After Cleveland offered a 1st rounder in the offseason.

And after trading their other QB away already, leaving one 40 year old on the roster.

Bill Belichick is a real dumbass.

:lol

I don't think there was ever a solid confirmation on a potential 1st rounder for Jimmy tbh

So they rented him for a few years and got a second rounder back. I mean it's not awful but they probably shoulda gotten more

Why? Garappolo looked good few times he played.

Brady backups have all sucked on their own, but I do think Jimmy is more polished than any of the others.

It's the Patriots, so they'll just draft the next Montana with the pick they got from the Niners while Garappolo stinks it up on his new team.

First we dump Alex Smith for the idiot Kaepernick. Then we dump him. Enter Brian Hoyer....are you kidding me? This is a franchise that has had some GREAT QB's...

Y.A.Title
John Brodie
Joe Montana
Steve Young

Alex Smith is a solid QB.

To watch what is happening now, yep....hurts.

Maybe this guy will work out but we need far more than jUst a QB.

So did every other Pats backup QB before joining another team.

I still highly doubt that, but another 2 years is definitely realistic. Bill just couldn’t spend that kind of big money on a backup QB, even if he believed he was good enough to replace Brady.

Honestly, the smart move, the “Belichickian” move would have been to move Brady while he still has value, and put Garroppolo into the starting role. Bill seemed to really believe Jimmy was good enough, and in years past he would have made that move without blinking. But I guess the old curmudgeon is starting to get sentimental in his old age.

yep, definitely the smart, Belichick move which would work at every other position but Brady is in Dirk, Kobe category, IMO, where you have to hold on to him for PR reasons even if it hurts your football team
