I've rented a canoe a few times and had pretty good luck in the Blanco River... Catfish, Perch, Crappie, Bass... all I have used so far is Night Crawlers. Anybody ever tried this? know of some good bait or lures to use on these rivers??

Well I used to use corn on a tiny hook for perch. Worms are good still. Some bass like lures. Small rotating spoon lures work too but tend to get stuck.

A white shyster spinner kills the Guadalupe Bass up near Comfort.

Also day old, bb gun shot grasshoppers work quite well for catfish.

Red wiggler worms work better than night crawlers - they're smaller, last longer and move around more.

If you want to use artificial bait, try a Power Worm or Strike King 3X on a Texas Rig. (http://www.catcherman.com/features/rigging/texasrigging030602sportmn.htm) These plastic worms are scented and the fish will hang on to them longer for a better hook set. The 3X can take a good beating. Out of a pack of 20, I will usually use 4 at the most for an entire day of good bass fishing.

Dobson Flies are excellent bait, from what I hear.

Plus they're so fuckin big they can be re-used.

I have a little spot but city of New Braunfels trying to mess it up.
If you go to prince solms park there used to be a dirt trail but they blocked it with big piles of dirt. But back in there is some uber bass and plenty of small fish.

It's under the train tracks just south of Wursthall.
