Why are people complaining about the crowd? The Spurs are playing a boring brand of basketball and going up against one of the worst teams in the league. Until Kawhi comes back a lot of fans are going to find better things to do. I still watch every Spurs game, but I also understand if others rather wouldn't seeing as how these teams are jumpshot heavy and in mediocre form right now.

Playing a bench role is actually perfect for him, especially when/if the full team comes together. Playing off Manu and alongside Patty will give him chances to improve his offensive game.

So he cant thrive in a bench role? How will the starters allow him to grow ? It's mostly heavy doses of LMA and Kawhi eventually. You'd think playing with the 2nd unit, going against opposing 2nd units he'd be able to look even better, no?

Not to mention him/Anderson starting can be problematic considering they really aren't 3 point threats, and Murray at all in terms of shooting. He should be able to drive/kick/create much more with that 2nd unit

I do think the Spurs really like him and would like him back if they can afford him. It’s going to be a market thing.

Against=When Kawhi gets back his minutes will be greatly diminished and he will have to find his role again, but by then he will have shown to the rest of the league that he can compete against starting level talent and is a legit NBA player deserving of rotation minutes. The perception can be that he’s been buried in the deep bench by the Spurs and that they aren’t in a good position to match even a moderate offer sheet. Some team can fall in love with him, specially if he has a good playoff showing, which I do expect him to have and make an offer the Spurs don’t match.

You have a good point. :toast They also have to retain some of the young players they have developed. At this rate, their rotation guys are all nearing or over 30 except Kawhi (Danny is 30 already and Mills 29, everyone else is older to way much older). So they have to continue to develop the youth they have and will have to pay to keep some of them.
