All of Faith No More's recognizable work is with Mike Patton. Nobody gives a shit about the original singer that left in the 80s. RIP though.

Of all the music genres we have, the least impressive/talented are the rappers. Yes, I own enought of that shit to see this.

I've seen HBCU football games, talk about penalties and stupid mistakes, sheesh~~~~ We see a lot of that in the NFL, blacks just can't figure out how to act.

With the rap biz being pretty much black, look at all the bullshit. What's with all this black vs black violence? Nigerai? Jamaica?

In his book...SATCHMO....jazz legend Louis Armstrong writes about growing up in the Stortyville region of New Orleans. He talks about how he would hear screams, gun shots, stabbings most every night while in his bed. He talks about how the law went with.......the hell with those jiggaboos, let them slaughter each other off.

The simple minded who know shit about music would get off on that junk. But after listening to Charles Mingus, Art Tatum, Lena Horne. Nina Simone, etc etc.....ha~~~~

Listen to the rappers then Youtube those old vocal groups from the 50's like...

The Platters
The Orioles
The Flamingos
The Five Satins
The Drifters
The Olympics
The Coasters
The Crows

There is a whole higher level of talent. A dramatic difference.

SMH at the comments on his final video.. all these teen retards crying "whyyyyyyyy" - what do you mean why, just watch the damn video :lol

..Have they confirmed heroin OD? I doubt it was a heroin OD.. he said he was on six bars, wax, presumably alcohol, and cigarettes.. he probably did take heroin, but I'm thinking it was probably a toxic mix versus a fatal dosage..

Most of them are lazy, shiftless pieces of shit. Beastie Boys laid down the blueprint; none of these hacks were up to the challenge.

The beastie boys were great, but they did not lay any blueprint for hip hop you mook.

Thought he was referring to white rappers.

If there's one thing white supremacist hate more than blacks, it's white people they feel are acting black.

When ya listen to a wide variety of music, ya notice when it turns to shit. Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson, Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, Harry Belafonte, The Mills Bros, The Ink Spots......talent, then ya listen to total shit as some no talent rapper reachs out to thugs and idiots.

I dunno. They merged rock and rap similar to what Run DMC did except going from rock to rap as opposed to the other way and they did it first. They certainly were not the only one but they were early pioneers. Next thing you know it's Public Enemy and Anthrax and then Cypress Hill and Rage Against the Machine.

Licensed to Ill was definitely a trendsetting album as much as Raising Hell was. It also came before.

That doesn't sound right. I remember listening to Raising Hell in summer of 86. And not getting into the Beastie Boys until basketball season.

I guess it depends on what you mean by "stratosphere". Raising Hell might have been the most influential rap album in terms of crossing over to white America. But had it never come out, Licensed to Ill would have probably had the same effect.

But if you're talking about evolving the genre, you're right, there isn't much comparison. Beastie Boys continued to break ground with Paul's Boutique and even more so on Check Your Head when they played their own instruments.

I don't have a problem with Run DMC. There stuff is okay; I just never really got into it. But it's pretty much studio musicians and sampling and putting generic sounds and beats and them rapping at the same generic 80's pace. The Beasties were much more imaginative and fun in all facets; and they were actually musicians and that made the difference, tbh. I watched an interview with I think it was Mike D, and he was a big-time music collector before he was ever a Beastie, and I think that eclectic background had him open to more ideas and inspirations. Run DMC was da da da -- hook - da da da -- hook. And even then, it was just never that much for me. I'd 've probably thought it'd be cool to see 'em do an NBA halftime show or something; I actually took the time to go to Beasties concerts though.
