I think he could actually play well for the first game. He will probably have a lot of energy and a good burst of speed. I have noticed players usually play well the first game coming back from a major injury and then start to fizzle out the following games afterwards.

Spurs fans definitely lose. Porker is worse than DM and MVP. DM will take a back seat to porker's minutes. The team will struggle to win more games with porker playing.

I expect some rust, let's be realistic.
He has been working with the dleague team, but obviously dleague does not = the NBA and he's going to have to reestablish chemistry with teammates.

I am expecting for him to work his way into more minutes. I am not sure if Pop will return Patty to the bench right away but he may not and just let Tony get his game back with bench minutes and brought along gradually.

Not the best time to bring up TOSBs as our young player is sitting out longer from a supposedly lesser injury. I am now really respecting TP for the fact that he is able to get back from injuries earlier and also play through them, even though some of those times he does play, it's a detriment to the team.

I also want to add, I'm really hoping the time off has rejuvenated him and that he's been able to get his body back in to the best shape it's been in, in a while. I'm hoping the extended rest he's had can give him a chance to maybe get back to the player he was in 2014 (his last season that he was very good). He's played a lot of Basketball year-round with both the Spurs and the French national team, so I'm optimistic he can return and play well for a sustained period of time. I really do think his body needed a rest from all the year-round play. We'll see if this makes a difference. I hope it does, and that we maybe see the 2014 Tony Parker.

Seventyniner
11-26-2017, 11:22 PM
It will help that Tony can't play more than 63 games this season. I would be surprised if he cracks 50 unless Mills or Murray gets hurt.

How many minutes does everyone think he will play tomorrow? I'll guess 18.

This is shit is an extreme case of recency bias. He came back early from this one, but in general Rique has always been a pussy with injuries. 1-2 years ago he was out two months with a mild asscheek strain while 40 year olds Manu and Timmy were busting their ass. Timmy also joked during the Champions special after 14' that Rique always sits out weeks with minor injuries.

Yeah, maybe it is, but I recalled other times where he did come back early. I recall he had a broken hand/finger and he came back 2 weeks early from that, so I'm not totally wrong, but I didn't recall the few times he sat out longer. I forgot about the one you mentioned. I assume the one Timmy joked about was a hamstring that he sat out for?

I don't necessarily expect Murray back in the dleague, but he is going to lose minutes.
If he was humble he would ask for an assignment to work on his deficiencies. But he won't.
He will keep saying he is still working hard to be a star, while looking similar to how he's looked most of the time.

That's Kyle's game, so that will continue as long as he is on the floor.

Adding another playmaker to the starting lineup should help with their offensive woes though, and the bench unit could definitely benefit from Patty's scoring while letting Manu retain the main ball-handling duties.

Regardless of Patty's shooting woes of late, he is still better playing off the ball and focusing on scoring, not initiating the offense. He can do that much better with the second unit.

Yea, and I'd argue he's done a really solid job running the offense since becoming the starter. His passing and ball handling has been much improved this season. Just need that get back on track in terms of shooting the ball

The record for him starting speaks for itself. He's done a great job manning the point. He's a streaky shooter. We all know that. He'll go through ups and downs. I don't have a problem with him getting his money. He earned it. He played for a few million per for a few years before that(charity work for what he was worth at the time). This deal would've been done before had he not injured his shoulder. This will probably be his last big payday anyway. If there's anyone in here that wouldn't take a deserved raise for years of hard work and professionalism, please let me know. I know I'd take the raise. His employer felt he was worth it and gave it to him. This is how much the Spurs value him. Who care what some crusty arm chair GM thinks of him. We only get a glimpse into what they see. PATFO has a full picture.

Everyone had their own agenda going into free agency, or selfish desires for players, myself included at the time, but they didn't get what they wanted and got mad. It's funny cause we know why he was signed. All the information is out and it is still hard for people to accept. Maybe put yourself in his position or in PATFO's position then understanding will overcome the frustration, hate, and resentment. For the select few, Spurs is a family. He's apart of the family. You take care of family, no?
