I'm not sure what to make of this. 6 episode documentary with short dramatized scenes interspersed with interviews.

About Frank Olson, a bio warfare scientist who worked with the CIA. Apparently, he had seen too much and was going to quit. He then committed suicide by jumping out of a 5th story hotel window with another CIA agent with him in the room. The CIA admitted that they had given Olson doses of LSD without him knowing it and issued an apology at some point. However, Olson's son believes it was a straight up murder. And most of the facts point to that being the case.

It's pretty interesting but I think they could have just done a straight 2 hour documentary.

Since nobody cared about this thread.

I'd rather read than watch TV. And when I do watch TV.....CNN, Sports, movies, History Channel....is it. Now way back in the day with all those westerns, cool, and The Twilight Zone was a must see, as was Amos & Andy. And way way back....Flash Gordon, Zorro (not the Disney version), must sees.

My TV highlights.

The first Superbowl (wasn't called that)
Elvis and The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show
Ozwald shot by Ruby as it happened
Gorgeous George
Bullet Bob Hayes (64 Olympics) coming from way back on a 4x1 anchor leg to,.,....WOW~~~~~

Due to injuries in the heats Mel Pender (Army) and Trenton (Illinois) Jackson (RB with Eagles to be) two of our 100m cats had to be replaced by our 200m sprinters Paul Drayton (Villanova) and Richard Stebbins (Grambling). The white guy was Gerry Ashworth out of Dartmouth (the last white USA sprinter on an Oly 4x1 team).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ftn68PZSws

While in HS he led the nation in the long jump and his older bro Roger (world class sprinter) once beat the great Bob Hayes in a 100 yard dash.

Imagine watching football with no instant replays and hard hits were hard hits. Also imagine watching all white teams play.

As we know SFS has talked about running a 20.00 200m while a middle school kid.

So who here really believes some middle school kid is running stride for stride with the Olympic champion here?

The fastest 200m ever ran by a teenager in Texas was 20.13*** by Roosevelt HS's Roy Martin, he'd make out 1988 Olympic team.

*** that was the HS record until a couple seasons ago. It stood for a long long time.

Noah Lyles (dad was a world class 400m cat) breaking Martin;s HS record taking 4th.

There was a freak of nature once upon time. His name was.....Houston McTear***.....he was a Floridian. As a junior in HS at the Florida State Champs he ran a 9.0.....100 yards to tie the World Record held ny Southern Illinois Ivory Crockett.

Averaged over 13 yards a carry as a RB for Baker HS.

Speaking of freaks....

The first time women ran in an Olympic 100m was in 1932, a 16 year old girl Betty Robinson in her 4th 100m won the Olympic 100m.

*** saw him run in Fresno while at Santa Monica JC***. He anchored a 4x2 relay, yep......he got the stick a good 10m down and yep.....wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooo....only to ease up at the finish with a....ho hum ...look on his face.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ffyobqtPI8

*** could have been Cerritos, he ran for both.

Ah.....he was never the Worlds Fastest Man, so they got a little carried away.

He was ranked number two, never number one.

Got into this stuff in the late 50's, noway in hell is some middle shool kid running a 20.00 AND if that had happened it would be HUGE, MASSIVE, GINORMOUS....news. The kid would be on all the talk shows, every track coach in the nation would be on his door step. This goes way beyond just some track time, now we are talking .....the supernatural.....the abnormal.....the weird. Kid would be on the cover of SI with a story.

This was prior to 2000 as was SFS 20.00 here in Cali.

We have a a guy lying about running a 20.00 200m. Why I don't know. All I'm doing is showng just how ridiculous that claim really is.

I can see him confusing a 24/25 not getting what a 20.00 really is. If he really understood...20.00...he'd know the impossibilities of some kid running a 20.00.

This is the 2017 season in the USA, talking the best Americans not kids.

So some middle school kid is running with the best in the USA, hahahaha~~~~~~~

Contrary to your deep beliefs, no one really cares too much about track and field and it's rarely discussed here. But, again, when that rarity does occur, pgardn and Spurs for 6 are the go-to guys and that's not likely that's going to change.

I've conceded numerous times that it might have been slower than 20.00. I said "20 something". Could have been a 20.5 or 20.6. I doubt it was a 20.9 because I wouldn't have rounded that to a 20. But it's possible.

In any even, I don't dwell on it. Unlike Hayes and the other great sprinters, I never did anything with it.

You ran a 24, 25ish guy, but since ya know...0.....about sprinting that 20-4 has ya confused, or just a flat out lie.

Trust me dummy no coach is letting a 20. anything sprinter alone, ok? Simply common sense.

this is the last time I'll explain it to you. I didn't even have a track coach. It was some other kid's dad. Go find the original conversation.

And it it was certainly 20.something. You only have to look at my Avatar.

Dude, some other kids dad timed this 20.00............hahahahahaha~~~~~~~ You could run faster than Bob Hayes without a sprint coach hahahahaha~~~~~~~~~~~~

Dude, do you honestly believe you were faster than OLYMPIC caliber sprinters while in middle school? Well?

If the dad owned a stop watch then he must know track, so he timed a 20 something but said nothing about ...WOW~~~~~~

You really don't get what any of this is really about at all do you? Why ignore all that stuff I have showed you about what a 20l.00 actually is? Dude...20.00....won the 72 Olympiics. There are NATIONS out there where their NATIONAL RECORD isn't that fast...........ok?

Dude, of the billions and billions of Chinese that have walked this earth none of them has ever ran a 200m as fast as a 20.00........ok? No kid who has ever ran track in Texas history has ran as fast as a 20.00....ok?

Wow~~~

Dude, for you to believe some middle school kid is faster than every Chinamen who ever lived says it all about just how damn dumb you really are.

And, have you ever seen the guy try and talk sprinting, he knows nothing.

Watch this....

Hey SFS talk to me about those two sets of brothers out of Texas HS's that held the HS record in the 4x1 relay, ok?

Watch how this gets ignored.

Hey SFS, fill in these lanes with sprinters out of TCU, ok?

5.
6.
7.
8.

Everyone of them ran a sub10.00, no other school anywhere close to that, yep...amazing.

We all get the troll, but acing like a total idiot trying to troll, ha~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Who reading this doesn't understand the difference between middle school athletes and world class athletes? This really has to be explained? Wow~~~

World class sprinters will be in their early 20's*** into their early 30's, we never NEVER see them in those middle school years.....honest. And ALL these world class cats are far faster AFTER their middle school years.......honest.

To watch you guys not understanding this is painful, how could anyone not know this?

*** we have seen a few HS kids star, but never middle school.

Which books? Altered Carbon was based on books?

That's very interesting. I watched the first episode last night and was intrigued. The books are always better so thanks for the heads up.

Glad this was brought up. I started the 1st book on Friday and should finish today. Excellent. One of the best scifi I've read in a long time. Looking forward to the other books.
Probably won't touch the Netflix series until I'm done.

Saw the first episode of Wormwood and got bored so quickly.

I don’t like the format they used. It’s basically a documentary with a few re-enactments thrown in. Quit it before I wasted anymore of my time.

Also started Altered Carbon, that one, I liked.

I actually like the series after being unsure about the documentary/docudrama format -- but it's the best of those I've ever seen from an artistic standpoint. Altered Carbon looks too networky but I'm sure I'll give it a shot at some point; Wormwood is the kind of different content I expect from streaming services.

Some critic likened the Altered Carbon series to the remake of Blade Runner and I can see that. It's very action oriented from the get go and the characters are interesting. Even the one offs are cool. You should definitely check it out.
