A jumpshooting big is good enough for the 4th seed, but I'm convinced that this version of LMA is what we're going ti get when it counts.
LMA gets physical about one game in 20.

Lamarcus shooting very badly is actually the reason they weren't able to pull away when they got to within one point.... we all know he isn't passing either.
He was a big reason for the comeback but mostly put backs. Shot is just off tonight smh
Good return on our $50 mil investment.

He can defend for sure... he's not going to be scoring much but is valuable in the right setting.
A team that cannot score and is asking him to post SErge ... well that is going to be tough.. but he competed. At least did what he could.
team needs a trade for a guard that can score... as erratic as Murray is they were better with him than Tony bc Murray at least defends too and plays with energy... If they had Kemba they win this game.

That is sad, but it seems Patty has taken what used to be Tony's role as the beloved.
Tony getting benched in this game cannot be ignored. It means something in terms of Tony's standing. He is very close to losing his starting spot if only Dejounte was just a little bit better, unfortunately he's still so undeveloped. However, the faith in Patty is still 100%.

Tony hasn't closed a lot of games this season thus far. Doubt he's close to losing his starting spot tho, more likely if he's struggling, he just won't finish close games. He still makes the most sense for our starters at this point

To be fair to him, I thought he was tired, they played him very physical and there were times no one else had it going... to go against that though... he could always make life easier for his teammates if he passes the ball. He was kind of a black hole tonight... hate to criticize him bc he has carried this team so far... and has a real tough job being a leader without that much support since Tony and Patty shot terrible and there were many youngins with him there... Everyone shot poorly. Only Pau and Bertans shot over 50%. Joff was 1/1 but that don't count. Green, Murray , etc... It was everyone collectively who couldn't hit squat. And they had some that were in and out, Patty and Danny.

There were very few really easy shots. Lamarcus didn't pass when he drew doubles or triple teams. Some of Murray's baskets were really easy... one was a cut from a Pau pass. Lamarcus needs to create for his teammates... use his gravity. Davis and Bryn didn't get enough shots.

Backcourt scoring and defense is bad. Pop loves the Parker/Mills/Forbes lineup and it's just not working. Can't defend, streaky scoring. Only 2 of the 3 should be on the court at the same time. Bertans should have come in earlier but instead Pop put him in for Pau when there was 9 seconds left. Makes no sense at all. At this point for formality's sake Parker is just a figurehead starter. Let DJM be the full fledged starter! TP looks like he is 60 y.o on the court. Aldridge just had a bad shooting night, what can you do?

agree with pop as I am proud too after this game ... LMA continues to work hard, but last night he was not rewarded the rim ... losing so many games sucks

Just another game of many where the Spurs can't score, shooting under 40% for most or all of the game. At one point, 28%.

Well the lack of super 3 pt shooting(36% or higher) will doom the Spurs against the only teams that matter.
Sorry but to beat GS and HOU yer gonna need 2 guys that can hit the 3 ptr at around 40% to keep up on most nights

Spurs don't have 2 pt shooters. And how many shots under 3 feet do LMA and Pau miss, EVERY GAME?
To be fair, many just wouldn't go down.
Yeah, I can't remember the last time I saw so many shots bounce around the rim or swirl out. Just couldn't take the lid off.
I liked the teams effort. If they play that way against teams under .500, we will start winning a lot more of those games.

Spurs have 3 guys shooting near 40% or higher from 3(Green, Bertans and Forbes) at high volume(so, excluding Pau) and Mills isn't that far off IIRC..the problem isn't the number of players, it's the type of player(Bertans and Forbes are situational pieces) and the volume at the top of the food chain IMO..
Ultimately, it's an issue that the highest volume players for the Spurs(outside of Kawhi) take naturally inefficient shots(Aldridge, Gay, Parker), while the Warriors and Rockets' high-volume players are all elite 3-point shooters..

Entertaining game, though..the only other game I attended this season was the Warriors, and this was the complete opposite of that matchup:lol
The amount of shots the Spurs had rim out was scary, tbh..

That's been the trend all season, and it's a sign that the offense has no rhythm.
