This is unwatchable. There is no one on this team, who can create on offense off dribble.

I don’t see how Murray can be a starter. I think SA has a better shot at hiding TP’s or Mill’s bad defense in the SL than they do hiding Murray’s bad offense.
I know right now the numbers say other wise but Murray is such a poor offensive player it tanks that side of the floor completely

I don't think it matters when Kawhi comes back, tbh... we'll be running Kawhi/LMA offense out there. In that sense, his length for rebounding is not a bad thing.
Although, I think this particular case had to do with trying to get a playmaker on the 2nd unit due to Manu being out, but we'll see...

Murray belongs in the G-league trying to develop whatever craft he has. What the hell is the point of owning a G-league team if you're not going to take advantage of it.

I agree about the logic tonight (said so earlier when Sean made the comment). But TP gets LMA so many easier looks than Murray does. So that is big although you are right that his usage will be low.
But with LMA/Kawhi/Danny you can mask TP’s defense. Murray can definitley tank that offense big time

We’ve seen with Roberson’s of the world, Tony Allens, Rondo’s that you can’t really hide offense. It will tank spacing and quality of looks.
Murray’s offense is just too big of an issue IMO. But we will see what Pop does.

They are good role players if they fit the system. The problem is that Parker, Murray, Anderson, Gasol, Forbes are also roles. Just too many guys, that cannot make difference.

At least Murray took the perimeter shot when wide open last night. He missed, but more importantly he took the shot. I’ve also heard people criticizing LMA’s play and I have to say the Pacers doubled him and tried to trap him every time he touched the ball. Good effort by Gasol, TP, KA, and Bryn shot 50%.
We didn't look good. These last two games have been hard to watch with our woes with our offense.

Good observation on Lamarcus. That’s happened b4 but it’s getting more pronounced the further into the season we get. Team have scouted out offenses and specially playoff teams will play Spurs tough.
I don’t know how this offense with Murray will go with him being such a non-shooter but unless the Spurs make a trade this is what they have to work with. Murray playing off the ball with a ball dominant Kawhi won’t look better than he’s doing right now. I don’t know how that guy showed up this season not being able to shoot a corner 3

Yes I get what you are sayin. My main takeaway from the game was simplistic- couldn’t throw the ball in the ocean, TO’s galore, and LMA is getting swarmed. Smart scouting really.

Pop has mentioned the shooting woes. Murray starting may not be a permanent thing either. Pop highlighted the defensive effort was admirable but it’s for naught if they can’t score.

It's disgusting to watch a team where no one can penetrate and create, either for themselves or others. So much of the shot clock spent on passing it around the three point line back and forth from a bunch of guys who can't even get in a three without help.
Simmons could get to the rim without a pick. He could draw help. He could finish or pass. And still defend. And was under control for cheap.
But tonight was a taste of Spurs ball through 2021 when Manu retires.
Mills and other scrubs unable to create, penetrate, finish.

01-22-2018, 08:18 AM
I am not a Jsimms fan and he's not exactly having a great season... if Simmons is your savior you ain't getting far either.
But they didn't need to resign Mills and there were other players available like Tyreke Evans, Collison, just others... there were many players in FA that they could have gotten...
The roster construction was meant to rely on Kawhi and Rudy Gay basically. Still it's a bad roster construction. They have needed to improve their PG play for years. It finally came crashing down.

That's the problem when 60% of your offense falls on one guy's shoulders. If LMA has a bad shooting night, it's going to be very difficult for Spurs to win games unless someone else starts picking up the scoring load.

Good point about LA being worn out. I think he might just deserve a rest (the first time this season where I think someone on the team has earned a rest). This is the time you should rest LA for a game or two, but unfortunately the dipshit Pop wasted rest games when players were healthy and not gassed, and in the process of doing that, he threw away a few completely winnable games. If he played everyone in those few "rest" games, the Spurs might have been able to afford to rest LA right now. I don't know if they can rest him at all, as the Spurs really need LA so they don't completely capsize. I'm not sure they can beat anyone without him, well at least I don't think they can with the way everyone else has been playing lately.
