14-4 last two seasons without Kawhi with a double digit point differential and a game 7 win against Houston in the postseason on the road. The denial is strong in some posters.

Voted culture for the lolz too but the Truth is If they are not contending or pretending to, they need to tank... 50 wins record is meaningless.

It's too late to tank so they need to look at some trades and/or hope Kawhi, Rudy and Manu get healthy.I

If all they get out of this season is 50 wins but a low pick and injuries continue to kill the team that's meaningless.

20-14 is doable. But Pop has to stop putzing around. Don't know if that'll happen, tbh. I'd take under 50 though if it got us a first round shot at the Warriors though.

They might. But only if Rudy and Kawhi both play about 25 games going forward. That's the bottom line.. the Spurs need Kawhi and Rudy to ball out. In the playoffs Kawhi's gotta get 30+. Rudy's gotta be around 20, if not more.
As this team is currently constructed....put it like this, if Kawhi doesn't play at least 25 games going forward, the Spurs are MILK TOAST. Without Kawhi and probably Rudy too, this team doesn't sniff 50. Without Kawhi going forward the Spurs will most likely drop in the standings.

This season was surely set up for Kawhi to get numbers. If the Klaw was healthy from day one he'd be averaging at least 30.
Kawhi's numbers would probably be close to this; 32ppg 7rpg 5.5ast 2stl 1blk...and the Spurs would probably be second in the west. Kawhi would have been MVP.

Ed Helicopter Jones
01-22-2018, 11:34 AM
I think they'll make it but they need to be healthier. Pop shuts too many more players down then no.

I believe Kawhi will be back, Manu back, Gay will be back, Parker will get better, Green will get better. The team will build a little momentum right around...say...March or so.

They've already played 51 games and have a record of 32-19. Gotta win 18 of the last 31 games.

Gotta win almost 60% of the games with one of the hardest schedules left. :lol

wildbill2u
01-27-2018, 03:15 PM
Might do it. If Pop continues to see what he's got in the kiddies, then it will be tougher to win some of the close games. It's quite a balancing act between trying to keep Kwahi on board with some wins and progress and the ability of the roster to develop. I'm looking at the glass as half full.

The toughest remaining schedule according to SOS but has anyone actually seen it? It's fucking ridiculous with a lot of games against the Warriors, Rockets and teams that gives us trouble like the Jazz and the Pelicans. There's also OKC and the TWolves, Portland, Milwaukee... a bunch of them on the road too. So between now to the end of the season and then they can only lose 11 games? Yeah not doing it.

There's a possibility of 16-11 there. If this team makes 50 it will be exactly 50. Probably will hit it with the Sacto game on 4/9 and lose their finale at NO. But, yeah, that's a tough schedule for a group that's playing like crap without Kawhi right now.

Meaning Spurs will still pick around 23 or 24 in the draft. Not high enough to get a real impact player in this deep draft coming up.

And that season... the injury bug was not quite like this year.

It was bad bc Kiwi missed about a month or so. Tony was still relied on for a lot offensively and he was injured for a lot of it and when he played he wasn't right, looked washed up actually. Also, Tiago was still a big part of the team and he barely played all season. They clearly declined from their 2014 championship version.

Still that team had won a championship the season b4, had depth, continuity, LDN was in contract year form and had his best season of his career, Timmy balled all year, was an all star and had a great individual year (I don't recall if he was in the all defensive teams or all nba, but Tim had a great season, perhaps his last great season bc 2016 he injured his one good knee and that was the end), Manu was ok but eventually he was worn down.

This team is a lot more dependent on Kiwi and Lamarcus and it was built to be that way. They have some really old roleplayers and then some youth that is not battle tested like the guys who won a championship in 2014. It's probably a more shallow team bc their veterans have less in the tank than they had then. It's amazing they have made it this far, but the schedule will get brutal. They need to get everyone that is injured back and try to make a good run to end the season.

If Kiwi isn't back I would be for an under the radar "tank". Basically just play your young guys more and just live with their mistakes. If they get better and win you some games you didn't think were winnable, well at least your youth got better and they are yours to keep. If they don't get better you get a higher draft pick and have a better idea of what you have and what you need to do in the summer with the roster. This is only if Kiwi doesn't come back this season.

At least we saw some offense tonight. I’m not counting it out that we have some big turnaround and win a few games. The margin for error got much smaller tonight.

If kawhi comes back anything is possible,

maybe Mills will get injured, 36 minutes a game has to be taking a toll on him...

That nearly double the posters still thought they would still get to 50 wins shows you what a pathetic implosion this team has gone through..

The reality is this team has been lottery material since mid December..

Not at all, no one considered all the drama kawhi had brought to the team. It still managed to get 45-49 wins with all that drama. If Kawhi would have been clear about his situation from scratch this team easily hits 50-55.

Can the Spurs petition the NBA to replay the last 3 minutes of the Clipper and Bucks games due to temporary loss of mental capacity by the coach? If so, then 50 is still in play.
