Ethan Hawke and the guy who played the villian were good but the rest of the cast was pretty bad- really dragged the movie down. The second and 3rd one's a better. The sequels got made because the first was made for $ million and grossed $90 million its like how the original Halloween was made on a small budget but and made a shit ton of money and started a franchise.

Think the concept would be much better a series on HBO or Showtime with each 10 episode season following a different cast of people through purge night.
