Phoenix has bought out Greg Monroe. He’ll be a free agent. Should the Spurs go after him?

Yes please, we could drop Lauvergne. Not to mention he's a good player. A little outdated in this 3 pt shooting league, but he's still pretty good.

I prefer Brook Lopez buyout option.

I’d take him over Joffrey anytime

Redundant and wouldn't take a reduced role when he can take bigger ones elsewhere.

He celebrates after dunks...Pop won't get him.

Lmao Drunkford will wake up a day after he's signed with Boston. I expect a signing in the same tier as the Joel Anthony one he sharted out last time

He's not that good but would be an upgrade over Joff but that's not saying much

Bonner coming out of retirement with 100 extra pounds of sandwiches in him would be an upgrade over Joff, tbh.

He’s going to the Celtics, they actually have assets to offer

Spurs could get dangerously close to, or even above the tax, if they pay off Joff and sign Monroe. Teams losing money don't do this.

How much time usually takes a team to get a disabled player exception? I guess New Orleans can count on getting it. Monroe would be easily a starter there raising his value for the offseason market.

You don't need assets, he's an Unrestricted FA after being bought out.

Yep. New Orleans is looking for somebody to fill-in for Boogie. Done deal, I believe.

Good call...that's where I'd try to land if I were him.

That was my initial thought as well, but Amused is actually somewhat correct. The Celtics have an $8M injured player exception they can use due to the Hayward injury, which is far more than any other contending team could drop for Monroe.

If they really want him, I'd be highly surprised if they don't get him.

I just assumed he meant it in the sense that we have no one to offer cause this team is trash sort of way.

But that makes sense tho, thanks for clarifying. Pels after losing Cousins I imagine would have some interest too, but idk what their $ looks like

Usually when Woj posts something like this, it becomes official in like two hrs :lol but yeah, the Pelican makes too much sense for Monroe.

Other teams offer starting spots. The Spurs offer less money and a role off the bench. So where is he going?

Tony Allen got released by the Bulls. Should go after him for his defense.

the problem is he's equally effective at defending the basket we're trying to score in, due to his lack of offensive ability. you think green is bad?
