Hey guys, how about something new. Post a casual little interesting fact about anything that someone might not know.

My example is, I started down the youtube rabbit hole and found out that a very popular singer song writer Christopher Cross is from San Antonio and is best known for the following:

When the NFL and AFL merged, the AFL were given....Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Colts, Pittsburgh Steelers, which helped form the AFC.

The Oakland Raiders came this close to being called....The Oakland Senors

From 1901 to 1905 Michigan football went 57-1, they scored over 2000 points giving up...36, they scored over 100 points in four games and pitched 50 shut outs. The very last game of 1905 they finally lost....Chicago 2 Michigan 0

All black Bedford County HS in Tennessee, won 78 games in a row from 42-49. But the most amazing thing about this streak was this,......from 42 to 44 no opponet crossed the fifty yard line on them. That does seem impossible, but....true.

The Dallas Cowboys came this close to being called....The Dallas Rangers.

The New York Jets started out as....The Titans

The first...Cowboys....in the NFL were....The Kansas City Cowboys.

Terry Bradshaw was a national caliber javelin thrower while at La Tech

The first black to rush for a 1000 yards in the NFL...Niner Joe "The Jet" Perry, he was also the first to have consecutive 1000 yard seasons, and still the only Hall of Famer with just a JC education....Compton.

Hall of Fame WR Lynn Swann twice won the Cali State long jump title. He was out of Serra, as was Tom Brady.

When The Beatles first landed here in the USA a reporter stuck a mic in John Lennon's face and asked.....

So, now that you are finally here, what's the first thing you want to do?

Lennon....meet Muddy Waters.

The first record that earned the title....Gold Record.....Chattanooga Choo Choo, 1941 Glen Miller and His Orchestra

The first blues record.....Crazy Blues...Mamie Smith 1920

The former slave who became king....Henri Christophe, Haiti.

The Rolling Stones got their name from a 1951 Muddy Waters record.

The former slave who ended up in Europe fighting for the world title....Tom Molineaux (name of his former owner)

The first sprinter to to be called...THE WORLDS FASTEST HUMAN...Howard Drew, back around 1914, he was also the first black to hold the 100 yard WR...9.6.

Temple sprinter Eulace Peacock owned Jesse Owens in the 100, he once beat him five races in a row. But in 1936 at the Penn Relays he pulled a muscle and was unable to compete at our Olympic trials, so...................................

The amazing Gale Sayers had an older bro named Roger who was faster than he was. Roger beating the great Bob Hayes at 100 yards.

Walter Payton had an NFL playing bro....Eddie...a Lion.

The first time Muddy Waters ever recorded was right there on his front porch at the Stovall Plantation, 1941. A must listen.

Panther RB Christian McCaffreys grandpa Dave Sime (Oly silver 1960) is still considered one of the top three/four greatest white American sprinters ever.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpusAWku-mw

Sime is the last white American to win an Olympic 100m medal. And in that race we had future NFLers Frank Budd Eagles and Ray Norton Niners. All three Americans had held the 100 yrd WR. As we saw Lyle Lovett the starter. (I better say...kidding)

This is where Elvis got his very first recording. He also covered a Lonnie Johnson (legendary guitarist) tune and fellow Sun artist Junior Parker tune.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxHQUvCkV20

All the above off the top of my head, here I couldn't remember (yes it is possible but rare) the date, so......

In 1890 George W. Johnson became the first African American to record commercially. A common story is that Johnson, a former slave, was discovered singing on the streets of Washington, D.C., by Berliner recording agent Fred Gaisberg. Gaisberg himself perpetrated this myth along with the falsehood that Johnson was later hanged for murdering his wife******

According to historian Tim Brooks, Johnson was a familiar figure in New York City's Hell's Kitchen and made his first commercial recordings in the spring of 1890 for the Metropolitan and New Jersey Phonograph companies. Previously, Johnson had also made tin foil exhibition recordings. Later in 1890, a group called The Unique Quartette followed Johnson into the recording studio. The Unique Quartette recorded again in 1893, and one of their titles, "Mama's Black Baby Boy" survives in stunning fidelity.

****** bluesman Pat Hare only had one real success, his...."Going to Murder My Baby".....well he'd end up in prison, yep.....he murdered his baby.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E26dBq-98Po

He recorded for Sun Records which gave us the first Elvis, Howlin' Wolf, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis recordings.

Off topic

I own a book by Julius Lester....To Be A Slave. Here we find letters written by the slaves, yes some could read and write. Obviously a must read.

When I find something that interests me the first thing I do is rush back to it's origins, the beginnings and work my way back. I must have it all, ya could call it a phobia. I do get a big grin when I read......ya Googled that.......which is actually....nobody can just know all that.:king

Watched this documentary called, "Hired Guns". It was about session musicians and how they often get no credit. Anyway, I was surprised to learn that it was actually Derek St. Holmes that sang Nugent's song, Stranglehold. Holmes was a guitar player in the band. He got no credit for one of Ted's biggest hits.

Nugents an insecure bitch.
Next album he made absolutey sure he himself was featured and pushed St. Holmes into the background.
Per jealous Ted Dipshit "there can only be one alpha male".

Talented retard that he is, I think one of Teds bio relatives may have been an animal.

Did you know....

Boxing bouts over 100 rounds?

George "Little Chocolate" Dixon had over 800 boxing matchs?

"Nature Boy" Ric Flair got his character from "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers the very first WWWF world champion. He won a tournament beating Antonio Rocca (nope, total bullshit)

Wilt Chamberlain was at a party, when Jim Brown showed up. One thing led to another, so they ended up in a race (forget the distance) Wilt won. Well Brown wasn't convinced so they did it again.....Wilt wins again.

Buford Pusser the real sheriff in those 'Walking Tall" movies was a one time pro rassler.

Former Cal sprinter/NY Jets receiver Wesley Walker was blind in one eye.

Herschel Walker vs Bo Jackson at the SEC Indoor Champs 60....hmmm?

How do you think Owens would stack up if he raced on a modern track, Avante? Read an article saying he'd probably be within a tenth of Bolt given the differences in wasted energy from the track of Owen's time compared to now.

The thing with Owens is the story. The black boy from Alabama in Hitlers Germany, beating up on his Supermen. In reality Owens was a far better long jumper than he was a sprinter, he lost a lot in the sprints. Four times he ran in our USA Nationals in the 100m, he only won once.

Maquettes Ralph Metcalfe and Temples Eulace Peacock beat Owens a ton of times in the 100. Peacock once beat Owens five races in a row.

Owens ran a 10.2 on bad dirt tracks, he also ran a 9.4 for yards. Bob Hayes also ran on dirt tracks in the 60's, he ran a 10.06/9.1. With his 5-11 190 pounds he is the guy who would be able to compete today, not Jesse Owens. Ah....other than the long jump.

I could see Owens running a 10.05ish with todays training, ete etc etc. Nothing remotely close to a 9.60, which is where Bolt lived.

As you can see he was not dominate.

When a sprinter runs both the 100 and 200 ya can tell a lot about him by his 200 times. Bolt was amazing at 200m running a stunning WR.....19.19, Owens never broke 20.7, that is a mile in a 200m.

100m PR 10.2 times two....20.4

Suppose we'll never know for sure, the article I read said the modern track as opposed to the ash track and the block could have gotten him under 10 because Owens wasted a lot of energy with the track of the day.

Why were they zeroing in on Jesse Owens? Like I mentioned he wasn't really all that in 100m.

Keep in mind we had few black sprinters in his day, and the few we did see beat Owens. With electro timing Owens was running around 10.45ish, that's a long long way from 9.99. And his 200m was weak.

I see.

Well if Owens did run today he'd be running into his early 30's, he was just a kid in his day, So at 28ish with a nice plus 1.8 wind, on that Eugene track, maybe a 9.99 would be possible. But....he was never going to challenge Bolt under any circumstances.

Bolt started out as a 400/200 cat, so he spent years building his speed endurance. Now add that 6-5 stride, a deadly combo at 100m.

Look a his head, yep, smooth.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRkeahelZHM
