Absolutely love him & he's being overlooked.

Two way athletic 3&D wing with a high ceiling to be more.

Can play the 2-4 in today's NBA. Has good athleticism and great length (7'2") and height (6'8").

Very active & disruptive player that I love.

Want him.

Worst case: Tony Snell
Best case: Jimmy Butler

One thing i don’t understand about him is his low defensive numbers 0.6 steal 0.4 block.. as he is a good defensive player.

The most recent Sam Vecenie podcast had quite a bit on Hunter

His guest was the guy who wrote this article:

https://www.thestepien.com/2019/02/15/deandre-hunter-scarcity/

Both seemed to think he wouldn't last long in the draft. One of them had him top 5 if I remember right.

The article has a lot on the blocks & steals issues.

Long story short, even if the Spurs miss the playoffs (which I expect would happen if White misses the majority of the remaining games) ... They probably still won't be in position to grab Hunter with the 13th or 14th pick.

I have seen him projected anywhere from 6 to 16. If he starts to slide, I would love for the Spurs to move up for him. He is very complete and accustomed to playing in a strong, team-oriented system. If the Spurs are slotted at 18, I think they have the resources to move up to possibly 14 to grab him.

He won ACC defensive player of the year and is up for NCAA defensive player of the year also. I honestly thought Zion would win ACC defensive player because he has crazy defensive averages and he is a really good defender.

Either way Hunter is a good player and if he works on his handle and keeps shooting as well as he has all season he could become a great NBA player. I honestly think it depends on where he is drafted though

He would be amazing, but that performance probably put him in the top 5. He had been having a mediocre tourney up to that point too, but i only ever saw him drop as low as 10.

More realistic and over looked is Kris Wilkes of UCLA. He is prototypical SF 6-8 and will be a nice option once coached up by the Spurs.
