"WASHINGTON – Kellyanne Conway, a senior White House aide, violated a law last year that forbids federal employees from using their official titles while engaging in partisan politics, the watchdog that oversees the law reported Tuesday. The White House denied that she broke the law, making it unlikely she will face any discipline from President Trump.

The Office of Special Counsel (OSC)*said in a report*that Conway violated the 1939*Act to Prevent Pernicious Political Activities, better known as the Hatch Act, twice, in interviews with “Fox & Friends” on Nov. 20 and with CNN’s “New Day” on Dec. 6. Appearing on both programs in her official capacity as counselor to the president, Conway weighed in on the Alabama Senate race in support of Republican candidate Roy Moore, OSC said.* Moore lost the special election, which was held on Dec. 12......"

The Trump team just gave a shameful response to Kellyanne Conway’s federal law violations

“Kellyanne Conway did not advocate for or against the election of any particular candidate.

She simply expressed the president’s obvious position that he have people in the House and Senate, who support his agenda.

In fact, Kellyanne’s statements actually show her intention and desire to comply with the Hatch Act —

as she twice declined to respond to the host’s specific invitation to encourage Alabamans to vote for the Republican,” Gidley said.

While it’s hardly surprising that Trump and his team would stick up for Conway, it still must be condemned.

This administration is shockingly lenient towards acts of corruption and sometimes outright criminality.

The pathological liar behind the now-infamous “alternative facts” faux pas is accused of breaking federal law by appearing on television and throwing her support behind serial pedophile and now-failed Senate hopeful Roy Moore.

Office of the Special Counsel, which

requested Trump take “appropriate disciplinary action” against Conway.

Does anyone know why the Hatch Act wouldn't apply to the POTUS? Why can Obama or Trump openly endorse a political candidate but not Conway?

You're "Let's talk about it, then I'm going to ask you 21 questions interrogation". Pretty disingenuous imo

Only applies to federal employees, not elected officials. These types of rulings by the special counsel are meaningless, she previously ruled Sebelius and Julian Castro had also violated the act. In Castro's case it was for simply stating Shillary was a qualified and prepared candidate during an interview. The intent of the act was to prevent federal employees from using govt resources to campaign on behalf of candidates.

Has anyone ever been prosecuted -- or even administratively dinged -- for a Hatch Act violation?

Seems like it comes up in nearly every administration and nothing happens.
